G35 or Cad CTS which one to buy?

Please don't shoot the questioner. But, I am about to choose another car over the G35 for the second time (currently own a Acura TL). I test drove the Cadillac CTS after driving the G35, M35 X, Lexus GS 350. I love the looks of the CTS and it has the technologies of the Lexus i.e. Direct injection and 6 speed auto. If Infiniti had these, I would go for the known Japanese sedan. But, I am wondering have any of you thought of what GM has to offer? Many thanks. Tim

I think the new CTS is attractive - the interior is much improved and the direct injection V6 sounds good, but it's also quite a bit heavier than our G35 so I doubt it's as quick and nimble. Once you add the popular options it's probably a little more $$ too. They weren't out when I bought my G last June otherwise i would have considered it, but probably would have bought the G anyway.

the CTS is was in the past two car and driver mags, and they've had good reviews of it over all. Numbers wise, it's not as fast nor handles as well as the G, but it is attractive, and the interior looks great. Plus GM's quality i think is getting better. (have a avanlanche and tahoe and with over 100k miles, never had a single problem) It's a toss up to me, if performance matters, G wins...

G35 all the way. Maybe when I'm 50-55 I'll get the Caddy. It does have a nice interior just not the style I prefer.

Agreed. The only Caddy I would drive is the CTS-V, especially after the whooping they put on basically everybody in the GrandAmerican series in '05, including the beloved M3.

If I want to go pick up chicks at the nursing home. I would buy one. Sorry but that's how I feel about those cars. It is a nice car but somehow it's just not a "silly little kid" It is a "grown up". I love the G's performance(acceleration, cornering, etc)

Of course you're going to get biased opinions on here. Of course the CTS won't be as fast as the G, it has the same amount of hp (roughly) but dimension wise, its more along the size of a 5-series BMW so its going to be roomier than our cars.

I absolutely love the new CTS, its absolutely gorgeous and the interior is probably the nicest interior GM has ever put together. I contemplated looking at one before buying the G, but I didn't for two reasons:

1. Didn't feel like waiting for them to come out.
2. No Bluetooth (you have to use GM's OnStar service, although GM says buyers can opt for Bluetooth for '09 CTS models).

I do like the fact that you can rewind and record live radio songs onto the car's harddrive though.

cadillac's depreciate way too fast. my friend has a '04 escalade loaded, tv's in all the headrests 4 15" subs and was dominique wilkins' little brother's car here in atlanta. purchased the car for 42k and now it's worth 16k in a matter of a few years. marinate on that before you buy any domestic vehicle
