Anyone has vid of G35 vs. 335i at drag race?

I don't mean street racing. Just wonder if there is any vid on youtube at a legitimate drag race strip.

I don't have what you're looking for, but I can help you visualize it. Using Car & Driver 1/4-mile numbers of 13.9 @ 103 for the G and 13.5 @ 106 for the 335, the two cars would be about 60 ft, or 4 car lengths apart at the end of the race. It's one car length when the front bumper of the 2nd car meets the rear bumper of the 1st car, so that's 3 car lengths of gap between the cars, which is quite close.

don't take this the wrong way, but going off your avatar i'm assuming you don't have an 07+ sedan, which should be much closer to the 335i than the coupes would be. this is the 07+ sedan section, after all...

Yeah, I meant 07 G35S vs. 335i. Thanks for clarifying.

I think after all it would be a driver race.

So close, but so far away. I love my G, but unless the 335 owner botched the takeoff, the G will lose. I had the pleasure of driving my friends stock 335i and it's just plain and simple a beast.

Well, I raced a 335 coupe in my '07 G35X. Off the line, I leapt about 3/4 car's length ahead, but by the time second gear came along he shot forward and never looked back. I was surprised at how he blew by me, and admitted defeat - it was ugly. I'll never race any form of 335 again...

Of note: I live in Colorado so I assume he had a greater advantage with the turbochargers, which actually work well at higher altitudes to offset the loss of engine HP.

He didnt specify, and 8 extra ponies isnt going to make a big difference for the 07 sedan

Agree. Also there is shifting mistakes. Sometimes. It's not like it never happened to me.

It would been a different storry if the road was a bit wet. Your X would dominate 335i. 335i is only better if road condition is good.

Would it not be more than 8HP if '07 was measured under the older SAE HP rating standards? Maybe 320HP?

I think the extra hp gain was just one variable. The new engine is much better in the upper rpm range (smoother up there too). I driven the 07 model and highway passing power is definitely stronger than the old VQ.
And don't forget the extra 3hp

You got a nice terrific looking coupe.
