Audi TT 3.2 or Saleen s281

Driven both and have owned a Saleen before. 2 totally different animals. The TT is fun to drive because it is lighter and just sticks like on rails going thru a turn. The Saleen is great in a straight line but you feel the weight. Similar price range. Hmmm...resale down the line?
I really like both for the styling and the fact that I won't see one everywhere.

Out of ideas.

Is the s281 even supercharged?

There is a non-sc model and one with one.

the Audi TT is not the best handling car out there.
drive a real sports car and you'll see the difference. Try one of the following: Boxster, Cayman, S2000, Elise. All are lighter than TT and will be much better in the handling dept.

Even a Miata (half as expensive) will kill the TT in the handling.

No doubt the other's are better handling but I'm torn between these two vehicles. The new TT's suprised me in handling compared to the original ones. I also miss that gas guzzling v8 with or without the SC. But thanx for the replies so far

Can you get the 2.0T with Quattro? That motor is pretty nuts and has to weigh quite a bit less than the 3.2 (I would think) I mean, with a chip alone your at 300lb/ft. That would be a tough decision for me. As for the Saleen, eh... its fun in a straight line but at the end of the day your still stuck with a Ford quality interior which won't begin to touch an Audi interior. If your looking at the 3.2l TT you have to go drive a VW R32. Espcially if you want exclusivity, they only make 5k of them. Plus, if you ever feel the need to mod you can easily 400hp out of that motor... WITH awd... Having owned an 04 I'm a bit biased, but take one out to a twisty road and you will be hooked. I miss mine all the time...

Yeah the interior has me leaning toward the Audi. I don't think the 2.0t is available with quattro. Yeah I was considering the R32 but the Audi has the looks.
2 totally different cars....I must be bipolar .

I'll take cornering and handling over straight line performance any day.... It's easy to break speeds and accelerate in both, but only one can handle twisties like they should.

IMHO. If you are looking at the Audi TT for it's handling abilities, I think you should broaden your choices. As mentioned, a Lotus Elise would most likey run circles around the TT on anything but wet/snowy pavement.

No doubt but I can't even get up and out of an Elise

There's always faster cars and better handling cars but something about these two strike a chord with me. I dunno.

The TT 2.0T is NOT available with Quattro. It's only available in FWD form. And IIRC in the states you can't even get a 2.0T with a stick shift. A stick and clutch 6M/T is only availble on 3.2L models. The upcoming TT-S should be available with a 6M/T though and it'll be powered by a 280ish hp 2.0T which will route power through all 4 wheels instead of just the fronts.
