New D2-AUTOSPORT Project Vehicle: LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO SPYDER

Hey guys, just wanted to share some pics of another addition to the project car lineup. Its a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder (E-gear)

With this project we wanted to venture into a different realm, and leave our "comfort zone" (luxury and ultraluxury imports). Other than the Vette and 997tt all of our projects are from the same genre of vehicles. In the end the Gallardo won due to its all around ease of operation, comfort, reliability, and resale value. Of course its drop dead gorgeous styling and pearl yellow paint dont hurt. The Spyder was chosen over the coupe for aesthetic reasons, and to protect resale value (the Coupe was introduced in 04, Spyder in 06)

The car is a really strong performer and the E-Gear shifts are fast and blindingly fast in sport mode. The 4wd has a rear wheel bias so the car is very easily drifted around corners. For 06 there have been a wealth of upgrades to the Gallardo but the most important is the exhaust. The oem exhaust is valvetronic and it fully bypasses the muffler boxes above 4k rpms!!!! The sound must seriously be heard to appreciate. There are aftermarket exhausts available but other than saving weight and hurting bottom end performance, they offer no benefit over the OEM (IMO)

With such a extroverted vehicle, we did not want to "overdo it" with extreme tacked on kits and glue on fender flares, so we kept it pretty simple. The rear lip on this car is a full inch larger than most Gallardo applications, though FYI

Believe it or not, all the GALLARDO exhausts have the valve, but the mufflers and exhaust piping are much different on the 06. On the old cars the piping goes through the middle of the muffler and the valve just makes it go straight through. On the 06 the piping enters at the lower corner of the muffler so when the valve closes its acting like more of a diverter. It shoots fire bone stock!

I'll TRY to get a night vid

Hey Derrick

It's Gio with the G35TT.
Todd's friend.
Will probably be looking for a few things in the spring time.
I'm putting my list together over the winter and get things slowly.

Car is looking nice.
Looks even better in person

Yeah the P-car is much more understated and reserved. The Lambo is much more of a "in your face" type of vehicle
