So what's your complaint about Pontaic again? That it decpreciates just like every other car?

^^ Maybe that Pontiacs depreciate faster than others such as the G?

2003 Bonneville SSEi ~35K new loaded - $13K street value today
2003 Infiniti G35 ~35K new loaded - $18K+ street value today

Not an exact comparison, I know. The other factor is how much was paid out the door. Pontiac may kick off 5G just to move the car, while the Infiniti will get near MSRP.

2003 Q45. Resale price is about $22,000. What was that new? $55,000-65,000?

People have different goals in mind when purchasing a vehicle. This reminds me of the Hyundai ads comparing their Sonata to a 5 Series BMW, Azera to Lexus LS, etc..
Not one person seriously considering the purchase of either of those two premium cars would even think about thinking about buying a Hyundai.
I guess what I'm trying to say is.. You can't be baller in a G8.
Actually, a perfect example came to mind, at my usual chilling spot, there's always a mix of high end german/japanese cars, most of them modified, some more so than others. Other people come too ofcourse, I've come there in a stock Corolla back when I used to drive one. But a few weeks ago, there was a turbo Grand Prix there. Coming out of the lot, he gunned it, laid down some rubber and let out a pretty loud pssssht from his BOV.
The reaction? The entire parking lot exploded in laughter. I don't know how fast his car was, he may have even been quick enough to take out some of the Skylines, Turbo M3's, etc.. I don't know. But if any boosted import were to do that, the reaction would be "Damn, that's a sick car!"

^^ you're kidding right? I mean the absolute LAST place I need approval for a car purchase is from a bunch of numnutz sitting in a parking lot

Yes I will admit (as I said earlier) that this is a complete apples to oranges comparison, but thats not to suggest that the G8 won't be a nice car. Hell it needs to be, GM needs most all of their new vehicles to be hits.

To suggest that any car thats not a luxury car is garbage then you're just being obtuse. Some of the people on here seem to be no different than a guy driving the 335i coming on here claiming that we just bought a poor man's 3 Series.

A car is just a damn car, I don't let what I drive give me an ego. I don't buy a car so I can feel a sense of superiority over someone else, I bought my car because I liked driving it, liked the features it offered, and felt it offered exceptional value.

You can't be a baller in an Infiniti either. I don't recall Infiniti being the center of any sort of pop culture phenomenon.

Remember, a G has options Pontiac won't bother offering because its things that should be in a Cadillac.

Anyone whos in the luxury market won't take a look at this car at all, its for those who want to save on a performance sedan by sacrificing all of the bells and whistles like our nifty back up camera or a built in hard drive for storing songs.

The last thing GM wants is one car from brand A stealing sales from brand B because they are far too similar, in this case, G8 stealing sales from say, the new CTS.

If you are willing to spend more ("willing to spend" not to be confused with "able to spend", two different things) then you wouldn't bother looking at something that costs far less than what you're willing to spend in terms of automobiles.

My point exactly when I said "different markets". I assumed at the time different price, turned out to be true if you compare 'starting at' prices. I know we are agreeing here, I'm just clarifying my position.

That's totally understandable. But that's you. The guy that tried to show off his turbo GP, clearly WAS looking for approval. It doesn't matter whether you were looking for it or not, the fact is, you're not going to get it.

Edit: In all honesty, it's not really people sitting around in a parking lot, it's kinda like a small china town mall with a bunch of restaurants, teashops, an arcade, etc.. It's just generally accepted that rich little asian kids (and those with yellow fever ) go to hang out. It also happens that a lot of them have nice cars.
Realistically speaking, I'm also not the type of person to do something like that in a parking lot with people around, because it's rather reckless, and shows a disregard for the safety of others.
But if you ever decide to come there, in a TT G35, and lay a little patch, you'll get an approving nod from me

Most of the purchasing demographic probably could care less about what kids at a 7-11 think about them. Therefore, they won't want it anyway.

Most that do care about some type of approval, again, won't be looking for it from this group of ricers.

That's fine, I don't really care about most of the purchasing demographic anyway. I do think it's more than a little bit ignorant to label people as a bunch of ricers without really knowing anything about them, or their cars, simply based on the fact that they like to chat with other car enthusiasts.

About as arrogant as a self proclaimed "car enthusiast" talking about how you can't be a baller in a G8...but implying that you can be in an Infiniti.

I'm sorry, you aren't a "baller" unless you've something like a Bentley or something else thats held in high regard in pop culture.
