Smile My car vs 2005 S2K Stock

Me and my friend are going to the TRACK..yes the track ...to test our stock cars against each other. No its not the EVO, the G35 Sedan. Assuming we are both decent drivers on a run of 10 trials...both cars stock...which car would win in the 1/4....

He has a STi and I have a EVO...and normally I can take him in a track/autocross situation..yet I have more mods. This is a race of stock secondary cars...we are betting money on this...

2005 S2000 (stock) vs 2003 G35 Sedan AT(stock)--best out of 10 trials..your thoughts??

Any hints on getting the most from this car in a track situation..Ive never taken the g35 to the 1/4 track..??

Close race... driver's race. It's all in the launch for both of you. And since he's MT, shifting plays a big role for him.

It will be close. My guess is the win will come down to his ability to launch and shift gears. If he doesn't perform near perfect the win is yours.

Update:

We did a run 4 times. He won twice and I won twice.

CN's:
1. G35 Sedan has traction issues and can bog. The reason is the crappy rubber we get compared to the coupes.

2. There is a lot more room for error in a 6 speed than a high torque auto EVEN if you are a good stick driver. He mis shifted once.

3. Its a drivers race with the edge going to the 03 G35 Sedan simply b/c it is more idiot proof.

I wonder if the VQ can take the S2000 on a roll at high speeds...I know weight matters less at speed and torque plays a greater roll(no pun intended ). I have heard the VQ is a beast on the highway.

Sounds just like I expected the race to happen. If you were at higher speeds, from a roll, which cannot be done legally unless you're on a circuit track or rent an airport or something ( ), you should have the advantage.

Overall, in straight line acceleration, it's always a good battle, with the G getting the advantage after you hit high speeds.

Just make sure you don't mess with an S2000 on the corners

before my tune i always had runs with my friends 2005 and 2007 s2k. It is a dead even race from 45mph till 130. If the s2k's top is down 6mt has the edge speeds above 60mph.

Regarding ur runs at the drag strip, if i caught this thread earler i would tell u s2k is NOT going to make to 10 runs. That car is anything but a drag car. Launching that car puts a lot of stress on the diff, tranny and clutch. This is probably the worst car to launch with without actually damaging the car.

EDIT: If u are 5AT expect to loose speeds above 60mph.

Actually that is the only way to launch the car to get a decent 60ft time. 6500-7000 rpm.

S2000's are pretty quick, i'd imagine the new one w/ the 2.2 would be alot quicker.

I personally rode in the 2liter model vs. a 350z and the outcome for the Z wasn't to pretty.

In its defense the new s2000's 04+ have a selonoid that make it burn clutch excessively suppose to be more "user friendly" but it actually prevents it from performing.

Sure its quick. But can the AVERAGE DRIVER shift that high reving, 6spd perfectly in a race against a sedan with twice its torque and about 30-40 more hp??
