08 Toyota Tundra

Had to take wifes 4 Runner for service today. While waiting I wander into the show room looking for a Tundra. None there but the sales guy starts talking to me and and I ask if he has any Tundra brochures. He says sure and next I'm sitting at his desk. Next we are looking for the keys for the Blue one with the 20" BBS I saw on the lot with the 381 HP V8. He says hop in I'll drive 1st. Next he barks the tires out of the lot (I can't even imagine with out TC on) up to about 75 mph. Next I drive. He says floor it. Ok and holy sh!t that thing moves. Drives very nice for a P/U. Way back on a back road he says "take it to 70mph and slam on the brakes. OK wow the thing stops perfectly straight and fast. This is something I would consider buying. Not now though. Like to drive the G.

I like their commercials, sounds like they're all true.

Im not into trucks but if i had to get one, tundra would be my first choice. I think it does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. That is FAST, for a big truck.

Love that truck. I wonder who would win in a pulling match between a lightning and a tundra?

After driving the Tundra I have to say it would win. 401 lbs tq. Never driven the lightning though.

if you want a fast truck get a diesel; not to mention you will go much further on a tank of fuel.

Appartently these Tundras are being big piles. Very unreliable from what im reading. Lots of recalls.

Good truck, but i'd still get a Titan or a Sivlerado/Sierra first.

Definatly fast though. Give me a Titan first.

your best bet is to check out tundrasolutions.com... hopefully Toyota can do things right because the new Tundra has known issue for transmission problems.. my dad's 07 Tundra has this problem and we will be taking it to the dealer soon.. besides that, it's a great truck, but the interior for me seems like a downgrade from the previous generation..

The Tundra is a sweet looking truck. I too have read that they have been having some reliability issues.......although I am really not sure what though. My favorite pickup is still the F-150 King Ranch.

I like the Tundra, but it's pretty hard to ignor the value & reliabilty of the F-150.
I'm closing in on 250K km on my '01.
It wouldn't surprise me to get another 250K on the odo either.

I own a modded diesel, and will never own another gas truck.

Having said that, my Leading Chief just bought a 2008 Tundra about 10 days ago. It's a nice pick-up. It has some really great features and runs like a scalded dog, but I'll keep my smoker, thanks.

Good stuff Ian. The F-150 has always been my favorite truck.

Mine's getting a little long in the tooth,
but I'm driving it until she needs to be put down.

The "Fat" styling has yet to sink in with me... being a long time toyota truck fan, the plasticy interior just doesn't do anything for me either. The engine sounds/pulls hard as poo, plus URD is working on an S/C for it for those that still need more oomph. The only thing yota has yet to touch is chassis rigidity... (see video)

Yes, its a bit bias being from ford... but you be the judge... they SEEM to be fair but... who knows...
