Was out of the office & saw the R8 with the Alberta plates just down the street.

Overall Audi has done a nice job....
I'm not a big fan of the CF body panel though.
The other thing I don't like on most Audi, including the R8, is the big front overhang.
The front wheels look like they're pushed too close to the door.

Agreed. Definitely should have moved the wheels closer to the nose, not only for aesthetic reasons but performance as well. For a "supercar" it just doesn't perform as well as it should. A 997 GT3 will smoke it, straight line and circuit. The looks are alright, but for the money I think you could do better.

OP, how is the visibility?

Love the package, love the front end, love the rear end, love the wheels, love the performance, love the new-kid-on-the-block presence. However there is something wrong about the proportion from the side, even if Audi tried to hide it with that huge slab of carbon fiber panel. From the side the car looks awkward, like a Prius or a RX-8. hmmmm~

Definitely agree....
Look around the web, you will see very few flush on side pics.

The problem is due to the mid engine layout which pushes the cab forward.
Moving the front wheels more forward would have helped with this.

I agree 100%. I've never liked the body panel at all no matter what colour I've seen it in.

The front overhang is too much by perhaps 4-6 inches to be more proportional. It seems exaggerated by the wheel rears being pushed to the extreme rear. All of this likely has something to do with the balance and trying to get a bit more weight on the front.

There was an R8 here about 2 months ago for the launch. My neighbour is an Audi fan with an A6 and mentioned to me it was here for test rides although I think he meant as a passenger.

Awesome car though.

The upcoming Audi R with the V10 should give the R8 the performance it should have gotten in the first place.

The "R10" (?) would be my dream car

I have a couple of friends with Z4M coupes that had an R8 to play with in Barrie last week.
(They're form NJ, but going to school up here.)

My brother and I had access to an Audi R8 this past saturday so we decided to take it out and put it through the paces.
You all be interested to know that it is not at all faster in a straight line then the M Coupe...it would be a drivers race between the two!
I have some videos but I am still trying to figure out how to get them off the video camera and onto the computer...
i am also waiting to get the professional photos from my photographer friend.
I also included a couple crappy cell phone pics of the M coupes...any way enjoy the pictures!

The R8 is indeed a beautiful car, but as always, its simply overpriced. Not enough power for the money, you are basically paying for the looks. Ill take a GT-R over this anyday, and the GT-R would slaughter this thing, not to mention, roughly 40K cheaper.
