![]() Just got back from the LA Autoshow. Two cars made a strong impression in my mind. The Nissan GT-R, and the Lamborghini Reventon. Absurd comparison? Maybe, but if you think about it - The Reventon is going to retail about $1.6million USD and it's essentially a reskinned Mucielago with 20 more hp. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the aerodynamic is probably more close to a sci-fi movie prop car rather than a sport racing car. Assuming the mechanical performance of the Reventon is nearly identical to the LP640, the Reventon probably won't record anything much faster than the LP640 on the track. Lamborghini Reventon $1,600k 6.5-liter V12 650hp @8000rpm Weight 3671 lbs AWD 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds 7:47 - Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 E-gear (sport tyres) (sport auto 01/07) Now on the other hand we have a Nissan GT-R. This superstar spent a year in the wind tunnel, 7yrs under development, hundreds of revisions and carries state of the art technology. The car will retail for under $70k USD. The performance figures are mind buggling. Here is the kicker 2009 Nissan GT-R $70k 3.8-liter V6 Twin-turbo 480hp @6400rpm Weight 3800lbs AWD 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds 7:38 - Nissan GT-R, 480PS/1720kg (manufacturer claim)(Nissan 10/07) So you really got to be wondering....... WTF?

but then when u pull up to the club with the gtr u might get a couple looks from the dudes but if u pull up with the reventon every women in the club will be wantin to suck ur dcik in the car. reventon ftw!!!
but nah the gtr performs amazingly and for 70k u cant beat the price. i dont know how they managed to do it but they did. Plus i thought it would be a small car but the car is huuuuuge so its even more amazing that it performs as well as it does.

^I was making a joke. But honestly i know that when someone buys a lambo or ferrari they are partly doing it for the status and attention they recieve from the cars. Yea they are probably car guys but still i gotta think they buy them for the bling factor as well.

I'd still take the GTR and use the other $1.53 million I saved on paying off the house, put the rest into savings/investments, and the last $20K into modding the GTR.

You are completely correct. It's an absurb comparison.

The comparison is lame. The lambo is clearly a status symbol for the rich while the GTR is a pure enthusiasts car. Both are impressive in their own different manners but I doubt they're targeting the same market. Put it this way, is someone who's in the market for a $1.6M car going to show up at the next charity event in a $70K car? I would think not.
