Question about GTR preorders

When do they officially start (I've heard Jan. 1) and how much would one expect to put down($$$)?

Edit:

Guess I should have put this in the first post instead of adding it to the end.

Took a trip to visit a friend a while back and we passed a small Nissan dealership and we both joked that they would never have GTRs. Searched the list again yesterday and noticed they were actually on it. Took a chance and gave them a call.

MSRP + taxes/destination. $2500 deposit

As much as you can.

Also, it will be PITA since each dealership will only get a few GTRs thus the mark-up will be sky-high.

Oh well, outta reach for me anyway.

I spoke to a guy in the LA auto show and he told me he already put down only $4K. I didin't ask any more details than that....

I talked with my local Nissan guy over a year ago and at that time they had 3-pre orders each of which had plunked down $1k-$2k. I talked to him a few weeks ago and they expect to get one (1) car per dealership the first year - any guess on who is going to get that one single car!? - Dealer Principal.

I believe they are only bringing in 1500 for the first year. Before putting any money down, I would figure out what the final cost is going to be.

Right now the official numbers are 12,000 per year worldwide and thats all that's official.

As far as the breakdown as to how many units each country gets, thats still up in the air and can be changed at any point in time. Its entirely up to Nissan and how they want to deal with each country's demands.

For North America 2009, I've heard of estimates from 1,200 all the way up to 6,000 units, depending on demands.

My dealership is requiring their standard $1,000 fully refundable deposit. I guess it all depends on where you live and what the demands are there. I will try to find out about pre-orders tomorrow morning when I go plunk down that $1K.

just call around until you find a dealer that are getting some, and ask what they want. not all dealers are getting them, and every dealer has their own program.

1 Local dealer I called said he had 7 pre-paid on the deposit list, all fully refundable to the day of delivery. Deposits’ were not high, from 1 to 5 k I think. No final pricing yet, and no pre ordering is available.

Since they dont know what they are getting in, you have to put your name on the list, and if a silver model shows up and your number is up, that is what you are offered. If you would rather a much better looking color like red, you get put to the end of the line at that moment, and wait out the next time your number is up, and you still only get offered what rolls in.

If I wanted to be #8 but had to have red, by the time a car came in for buyer #8 (2009 he predicted) I am sure there would be many more on the list and so choosing a particular color may not be a choice for the first year or more.

Still, price was not know so they are not negotiating a final buy number just yet either. I said i was more curious then serious, and thanked him for the info. But if it takes 18 months to get a car from today, maybe i can start scraping those couch coins.....

Just got back from the dealership, was able to secure #3 & #4 on their list of GTR's, was a measily $1000 refundable deposit, with max $5K over MSRP final pricing (yet to be determined)
They also did not have any pricing information and/or ordering information.
Sorry guys

Sorry guys
curious, are you trying to buy 2, or be on the list to choose between the 3rd and 4th cars that are delivered?

i was considering the same thing (except my dealer is asking for non-refundable 5k (that can be used towards the purchase), and that is a much harder decision to keep throwing around just for a pick) when i found out that i was the first on the list.

my dealer is expecting 3 the first year, and may get up to 5. but it would be nice not to get sent to the bottom of the list if i refuse the first car (because it comes in red).

if this is the case, i might purchase the first 3 positions.

I am wondering what mark up will be. I heard some dealership wants to do $30k mark up. Just insane.
