I know that Nissan wants this car to be exclusive, but they could probably sell 3 times as many as they plan and you would still not see 1 on every street corner. I wish they would consider bumping up that 1,500 unit number a little.

If the goal of a high end super car is not it's own sales but to bring in other buyers into the showroom, you need to have enough around to be in the showroom! Not to mention the street visibility would bring people to the dealership alone, but not if you can't see 1.

I saw part of this clip from another posting, but it did not have as much sound from inside or outside, this is a very nice sound, I think I want it for my computer start up to replace the windows sound!

I don't think it's easy to get big production numbers with this type of car.
It doesn't fit the normal production line mold, there's a lot of hand assembly.

G-Wannabe-- My guess is that may happen in time. Low numbers initially keeps the car more exclusive and really helps the brand image. They'll probably offer bigger numbers in future years as long as this car is actually profitable and they have the production capability.

Did you see that post about the ebay auction of GT-R's?

EDIT: I just see that you did read it.

That's a very good point I hadn't thought as much about. I knew it would be harder to produce but wasn't thinking about the hand touches.

On the vid, the guy mentions production will be about 1000 per month......does that mean 12,000 per year ?? if so, North America only gets 1500 a year?

Saw it, I wrote it!

Yes, i agree. But i think that any car produced in the sub 5,000 unit range won't make any profit, there has to be at least that much (5,000 X $70k) in years of R&D, testing, production & shipping costs alone. No car can re-coupe all of that in 1 year and in so low quantities.

If i had even a little patience here I might get lucky enough to own a fast $50k+ sports car; I just dont want to wait! I have waited until this year to buy the G37, and so I am anxious enough to have passed it up.

This car is worth the wait, if I can hold out is another question!

Lol, I think I'm seeing way too many threads on here to keep things straight. Sorry about missing that.

I'm in agreement with what you're saying on the volumes and costs. I think I should be saying if it can be profitable.

I'd love to own one of these but that's a lot of money to put out on a car, especially when I don't drive much. I'm sure you'll hold out. Keep your wife in good spirits in the meantime.

^ not buying a GT-R will go a long way in that department! she is not as big a car fan as me.
In the end it is big bucks, I will have to be in a really good place 2 buy 1.

Yeah, I suppose most wives are like that. Mine certainly is. She downgraded a lot with her current car and likes it better.

It's huge bucks for a car although a great one at that.
