DYNO Testing already

I had no idea an 'owners club' existed, this will be an interesting website to snoop around..

482 ps (475 hp) and 59.2 kg/m (428 ft-lbs) at the hubs.

(IMG:http://img01.carview.co.jp/carlife/i...7131025/P1.jpg)

Results will be printed in the 12/25 issue of Bestcar. Also said that the limiter came on in 4th gear so there should be more potential.

Thanks to Zakira for the translation.

Wow. Very good information coming from that forum. The GTR has to be the most underrated car I've ever seen. People here in America other than enthusiast won't understand how this machine can hit 0-60 in 3.5 sec. I'm definately sold on this vehicle now. My dream car for years has been a Porsche 911 Turbo but, it might now be NISSAN?!!

Great find GWB. WOW!!!

Now it's all starting to make sense. Those are basically the numbers we're reading as at the crank.

Your posts are making me more and more tempted.

Thanks, i am either slowly convincing myself, or living 100% of the day in Fantasy Island without the guys in white suits. Maybe they will be comming for me in white suits if i keep up this day dreaming.

This 530 to 550 HP rating now does in my book justify the $69K. I was hopeful and wrong to assume this would be a $60K car, and I actually think it is priced right, wow - back when I was a kid my dad bought Nova's and even a 78 Monte Carlo (3 speed stick shift, that car could haul azz) and we spent that kind of money on our house, not the car. Boy do I sound like an old fart saying that, and I'm only 38!

Piont is I guess we have to consider the times and the other cars around this range, I never would have thought I would even be thinking of buying something in this range, but here we are and daily I am trying to talk myself into it. That is the easy part even though it is taking a lot of talking, the hard part is finding the green to own it!

If this is accurate (there is a lot of talk on this site about the accuracy of this kind of dyno, very interesting and a little hard to follow) - but this should make Vette and Viper guys cry a little more, Yes Virgina, there is a GODZILLA, and it comes from NISSAN!!!!

Oh Yea, and I still want the red one.

wait... how do you do hub dyno on a AWD car with a sophisticated torque split system?

I'm going to repost what I wrote in the Z site. Just trying to inform for those who aren't familiar with dyno's (99% of people ):

Quote:
No. It's because a Dynapack reads higher than the other more widely used dyno's, which is the Dynojet or Dyno Dynamics. Dynapacks read off the hubs, not the actual wheel. So, its not "true" rwhp, but its also not flywheel power.

I think its dumb that they decided to use a dynapack to show its "power", when most other vehicles are dyno'd in other lower-reading dyno's. A Dynapack is excellent for tuning purposes. But im pretty sure they just used this to show off "bigger" numbers, not for tuning purposes.

A C6 Z06 or F430 would yield as high, if not higher hp numbers than these on a Dynapack.

Nissan did an outstanding job on its AWD system to keep up with the other lighter, more powerful supecars

.

^thanks for that SB. We know all dynos are not created equal. I agree it would be nice to have it done on a Dynojet for example but we'll be seeing those numbers soon.

I think the point is the GT-R has under rated crank #'s which helps explain the kind of performance being touted.

No problem. You are definately right that dyno's are not created equal, even if they are of the same type.

Personally, I believe that its not the fact that the GT-R is underrated in power, its the fact that its AWD system is superb in terms of handling & driveability. If anything, the "underrating" isn't anything too significant. From what I hear, even my mother could drive around the Ring within +-5 seconds of the supposed record. Now that's driveability

Haha, I think I "heard" that too! Actually that's the kind of car I would like for both the street and the track. My experience and skill level would not let me extract as much out of a challenging car.
