Porshe owners opinions on the GTR...

http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...d.php?t=109941

Lotsa haterade going on in there......

Quote:
Porshe 997TT owner:
"Come on guys its a NISSAN!

PORSCHE wil murder it on the street or on the track.

Watch all the young/inexperinced drivers get em' and start rappin' em' around trees & light poles. The handling cant even be compared to the PORSCHE's"

"The GT-R is a large car with a bunch of gimmicks to make it seem faster than it is. And I am not kidding either."

though there is PLENTY of haterade going on in there.. some do make a good point..

porsche isnt really about power/price ratio

and really, one could easily get a modded EVO/STI 500 AWHP under that GTR price..

porsche 911 turbo is a sweet car and all.. but a little flashy imo..nissan i think still shows some class yet still fairly aggressive....

Somebody better tell formula 1 teams that their cars are not really a sport cars. They are missing clutch pedal.

exactly.

I always thought that ppl that buy more expensive sport cars are more respectable to the sport cars over all.

But I guess I was wrong.

0-60 mph 3.7 sec. 3.4 sec.

I know sports cars isnt all about speed, I just find it ironic that the Automatic tranny is faster than the manual. Its the same case with the M5. That tells you how far "Automatic" transmissions have come along

some fan boys, but some straight forward posts

While some just wrote a few expected replies, if it is not a 911 why drive it attitude, many were actually writing logical and even praising posts.

The question for some (on this 9 page thread, which speaks itself of worry and interest combined) comes down to badge onwership, fit and finish, history and pride of owining (fill in the blank).

Some posters put in very solid reasoning here, so you have to give some credit in what appears to be a very hot topic, what can it do for real, how well will it look and drive in person, how much over msrp will it cost, and can it actually hang with the numbers and times that Nissan is claiming.

This is for sure not a run away win for either car, they seem to be targeted slightly differently, but as 1 smart post said, you should buy what you really want and not compromise, because at the end of the day you will not be happy with your purchase if you try and save some bucks and get less then what you really want. Sure it may take longer to save up for the more expensive cars, but if that is what truly is your top goal, don't take the easy cheap way out and buy something you wont be 100% happy with " settling for ".

He was talking about a real passion for owning 1 paticular car in the top 5% of sports cars, so dont get me wrong, there are a lot of nice cars out there under the price of the 911TT, but if your goal and passion for 1 high priced car can be bought with patience, you will be rewarded for waiting.

There was a few fear mongers who just outright said this is the next Z06 threat and the 911 will stomp it just as badly as it did the chevy. That is what you get from Brand loyalty, people who no matter what you produce will never think it's ok to shop the lower image brands even if it can run with (or beat) the highest priced sports cars. While the 911 was used by the GT-R's testing target, it has a lot of work to do to un-seat the kings of the track.

Let the fight begin, we win at the end of the day no matter what you buy, it will be great to watch, and as Elwood said:

"Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, don't fail us now"

That's until someone figures out how to make the GTR go 0 to 60 in the 2's..:lol

The Porsche folks aren't used to seeing Asian cars in this territory. The only
supercars have been from Europe,or Detroit. The GTR is just the first of a series of 3. Each will be faster than the other.

And Honda and Lexus are coming too.

0 to 60, from a roll, top speed....There's going to be someone out there whose
going to make this car go faster...

Not me though...I am keeping this baby stock...0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds at 193 mph...is enough for me. :lol

If everything goes to plan...in a year or 2.

Well said. There will always be many with well thought commentary and some (even on this board) who are either uninformed or wildly biased in their viewpoints.

The vast majortiy of the potential / current owners and fans of these cars could not possibly wring a fraction of the potential performance out of them anyway - on the street or track.

The fact there is more competition out there is very good for purchasers of any of these vehicles.
