you will see 30k.....

........ in about 30 years!

I look all the time, its hard to find any ACURA NSX'S come down that far, but then again they only reigned as top of the list for what, 2 years befor it was passed up by its competitors?

I don't see this yet in my future, and maybe when I can look they will have an MT option. Please Nissan bring out the MT, even the new 599 GTB will have 1 @ 400k and a 6L V-12.

Because I believe that's when they (Nissan) started to take orders for it.

I'd go for the GTR if I had a porsche 911 or corvette.

That was the date that various car magazines and blogs assumed would be the first day pre-orders are available, but it turns out not to be true. The dealers that I've contacted were taking deposits for a promise to be on the list, but the list wasn't open yet. Pre-orders weren't yet open last week, and I've been too busy to check this week.

It looks like it will be almost impossible to get this car for less than $100k, though. Most dealers have very limited allocations and are charging as much as the market will bear for them. I will wait for the early adopters with lots of money to get it out of their systems (and their wallets)

I was planning to, until a local Nissan Dealer near Philly resently replied to my deposite inquiry with this.

"The availability of the GTR is up in the air. Here is what I know: There will be less than 2000 for the US. Not every dealer is qualified to sell one. We must retro-fit our shop first to handle the car. This is a very big expense so not all dealers are opting to do so. We are. As of now we are being allotted one. Most dealers are already asking $50,000 over sticker and quite a few have pre-sold theirs. We are asking $35,000 over sticker and you can reserve the GTR with a $5000 non-refundable deposit. We are expecting the car to arrive in August. That plus any info on www.nissanusa.com is all I know for now. Please let me know if you are interested or if you have any other questions."

buwhethththththththhhhh. No F'n way.

xactly. For that price, I might as well just bring a tuned R34 over from Japan and run circles around everything else on the road, but in unique Skyline style!

There is no way I'm paying 35K-50K over sticker price. Your digging into 911 turbo territory at that price point. And IMHO this defeats the purpose of buying one if its going to be as expensive as a 911 Turbo. The GTR is sick but, it is not worth a possible $120,000 with markup.

Ouch

$70,000 + what the market will bear = Final Selling price

$80,000 to MAAAAYBE $90,000 What the market expects and would pay.

Over $95,000 = Dealers making money, Nissan loosing buyers, and the car will have a sales curve like that of the NSX, 90% of total solds in 12+ years on the market went in the first 18 months.

I can see asking $15k to $20k more just because of exclusive availability (1,500 units i think) and there is not much in this 500HP space to start with. Even on Carsdirect.com - usually a bargain price web buying service, the Z06 is priced @ $5,000 OVER MSRP with no options or equipment packages. (the TT 911 on this site is @ MSRP, or $127,060)

BUT, price it over $90k and they will fly right into competition with the brands that have expereince in supercar territory, the loyalty of returning buyers, the heritage of years of racing and highend performance car lineage, and recoginizable status for the neighbors to be jealous about.

While years of Skyline history means a lot to people on this board, it holds no meaning for the majority of US car buyers who dont know what has been for sale overseas. And that pool of buyers just got a lot smaller once you start breaking 6 figures to play.

I hope for the GT-R's sake this car will not see a markup of 20% over or more of the MSRP, it will have a hard time finding a home. I suspect the initial launch will find buyers willing to pay almost anything just to own this car, but after that the price will have to drop or they will sit, which may be the case- dealers may not bargain on cars they know wont be made in high numbers, they don't have to. Only time will tell.

Keep in mind that markups start out extremely high to milk the people with a ton of money, and as fewer buyers are willing to pay them, they drop. Think of it as the early adopter tax. As time goes on, I am certain that the markups will shrink as the buyer pool willing to pay them disappears. Also, I think the 1500 car allocation for the US is BS. Nissan wants to make money, and America is still the biggest car market. I'm sure I'll have this car for MSRP or close to it this year.
