Re: what happen to the supras

the is300 uses the old supra engine. turbo charge that and then you got one serious performer.

Re: what happen to the supras

Supposedly. They gotta fix the styling though, or it will be DOA. The concept they showed looks hideous. Also, from what I've heard the new Supra will not have the 2JZE GTE motor in it, which is about the only thing that made the last Supra MKIV famous.

Re: what happen to the supras

I still think the last generation supra is a kick A$$ car....
the styling is just as fresh as it was back then....
And I think every one knows its potential w/ mods.....
I think they will only become more and more desireable...my .02 2old4this

Re: what happen to the supras

Maybe I have too much faith in some things, but I think if they ever do come out with a new Supra it'l have another strong, mod friendly engine. Too bad so many good cars died off in the 90's and now thier rarity has made the prices nuts. Some prices I've seen have been more than a new G.

Well, it has a cousin of the Supra engine - its not the same exact motor sans turbos. It is a 2JZE motor, but it doesn't have all the forged internals of the 2JZE GTE motor from the Supra. You can bolt a turbo onto the IS300's motor and get some nice power gains to about 400-450hp, but if you want to make serious power that the Supra could with a big turbo, you need to replace the stock reciprocating assembly with forged pieces to get it to GTE status.

Re: what happen to the supras

yea, turbocharged i6 in the is300 will rip some ***, but turbocharging an N/A car is not as easy as you guys think it is. A simple turbo add-on will cost well over 9K in the is300. That includes all the parts neccessary for installaton, minus installation costs and tuning.

Re: what happen to the supras

The 2jz-GE in the IS300 is the Supra engine, just not the TT engine which, like you said is the 2jz-GTE.

Toyota has no plans to release another Supra (dispite rumors of one being released to compete with the 350Z)

Yes, an IS300 can make some seroius hp with the right tuning and alot of $$$.

TBKO's Stage 5.5 kit is $30,000 yes, the cost of another IS300! lol, but can lay down about 700rwhp

Re: what happen to the supras

Supras' were definently nice cars. I'd like to see them make a comeback.

Re: what happen to the supras

$30k will buy you a lot of power in just about any car except for the exotics.

Re: what happen to the supras

It's definitely possible to hit 700 at the wheels with an IS300. A local guy here in NY is trying to hit the 1000rwhp mark.
