Nissan says PM is an advanced version of the Front Midship (FM) architecture that is home to the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G37 coupe, among others. Like FM, PM aims for balanced weight distribution by moving the engine back so most of its weight is behind the front axle. The GT-R rides on a 109.4-inch wheelbase.

The Nissan PM platform or "Premium Midship" platform is a modern FM layout automobile platform. The platform itself is a sports enhanced derivative of the FM platform. Like the FM platform, the PM platform allows for the engine to be located behind the front wheels for a midship layout for better weight distribution. The platform also allows for a rear transaxle further enchancing balance and weight distribution.

The GT-R is based on Nissan’s flexible FM platform but, because of the unique nature of the GT-R’s interpretation, it is known by Nissan as the PM Platform (Premium Midship). But the flexibility of these modern platforms makes it very cost-effective to spawn new models without starting from scratch

The GT-R rides on Nissan’s new PM platform, PM meaning Prime Midship. It’s an evolution of the ubiquitous FM platform that sits underneath everything from 350Zs to crossover SUVs

PM is the GT-R specific version of the FM platform.

R35 is the chassis. Get your facts straight.


Call the Neon rice if you will. The fact remains that the SRT-4 is a performance car, regardless of its roots. I'm willing to overlook roll-up rear windows.

The FM platform is only used on premium Nissan offerings--e.g., Nissan Z, Infiniti G, Infiniti M--and those cars in base form are very good and capable.

If you want to argue on for pages and pages that the SRT-4 is not a Neon, and is not rice, I'll keep playing along.

Honestly, I actually don't consider a stock (or stock-looking) SRT-4 to be rice...

...as far as FWD cars go, it's actually a pretty impressive performer...

...but out friend here with the pink Mopar-wannabe SRT-4 is practically drowning in Uncle Ben's finest.

i just cannot process how ANYONE can even possibly think those last 3 civics even stand a chance to look 'good'. A joke to make it look beyond rediculous is one thing....but for someone to actually take pride in driving one of those ****boxes, just completely boggles my mind.
