Does the Altima use the same FM chassis as the G?

Someone at work said they did and I wasn't sure. Altima is FWD while G is RWD, so if anything it is a highly modified FM platform?

I couldn't find a conclusive answer by googling it so I'm asking you guys.

No. They're on different platforms. G35/37, M35/45, 350Z, FX and EX are on Nissan's FM platform while the newest Altima sits on Nissan's D platform which also is used on the 09+ Murano.

No. Not even close.

The 350Z is the only "Nissan" in the FM Platform. All the rests are from "Infiniti" (G, FX, M, EX).

Not that it necessarily matters but the 350Z is also the only Nissan built in japan, whereas all Infinitis are built in Japan.... personally I dont see the point of a japanese (or german) car made in mexico or in the US, but that's just me. Never really understood that about BMW X5's either..

Why? Not like it really matters where its built.

Infinitis are built in Japan but Infiniti for 20 years was only sold in the US. Of course some of their cars are sold in Japan as Nissans. Infiniti just now ventured out into European markets.

Hey if you don't think it makes any difference then good for you for having faith in the american auto worker!

Take a look at the reliability/quality ratings of the QX56 (the only Infiniti not built in Japan) compared to all other Infiniti models.... and read into that what you may. You can probably guess how I feel about it

i have to agree with you on this. There's nothing like japanese when it comes to cars, electronics, etc.

do they still wack you upside your head with a ruler when you get a "B" or less on your report card in japan? If so...that's tell you right there, if you build a car that fails...they kill you, plain and simple.

Mitsubishi Galant, Eclipse, Endeavor : Made in Illinois
Mitsubishi Radier: Made in Michigan

The others (including the EVO) are made mostly in Japan.
