GT-R School

Just talked to a buddy who is a tech at the nissan dealership. Nissan is paying for him and another mechanic at the dealership to fly out to arizona for one week to learn about the GT-R. I guess only certain techs at each dealership are going to be aloud to work on the car (so only x amount of techs will be at this meeting). They are being flown out there to learn how to rip the car down to the bone and rebuild it (engine, suspension, interior ect). He said that they are all going to be allowed to take them out on the road course and run the hell out of them and then they have to rebuild them. I guess he said they are going to have multiple GT-R's on site. Have to have security clearance to get in.

Pretty cool.

my dealer is sending 1 mechanic

they've got 3 people specially trained on this, the gm, a service rep, and a mechanic (each within their scope of the vehicle).

obviously the tech will have longer training.

talk about job security.

I dont think I would quite call it security clearance...but I'm sure it will be very tight. FYI sec clearances are only required for ppl who readily have access to documents/information etc which is sensitive to national security.

I think the GTR and how it works is far from being a threat to national security

Have another read. He didn't say anything about "national security".That's you trying to make something it isn't.

Obviously he's talking about corporate security.

If you have to ask you shouldn't be buying one

And on that note.... yeah I'm probably not going to be driving a GTR anytime soon unless I find a suitcase of money on the ground.

I know i'm only giving him a hard time since he said 'security clearance'. In my field of work I automatically associate that with positions of national security. Anybody with a 'security clearance' has to complete a form for 'public trust' positions. I think i know what he meant but it was funny for me
