Im in NYC. I had put a deposit on this car about 8 months ago and took it back about a month ago because they said the wait was gonna be till sometime in 09 for me. So last month I went and took it back. Finally decided to put it on a new Audi S5 instead in which I absolutely love. Guess what tho. Get a call from one of my boys 2 days ago, he said a BMW dealer by me had a 2door and a 4 door M3 in stock. So i went to look at this myself. Surprisinly enough the car was there and the guy told me that if I wanted i could have driven that car out of there the same day. But after looking at it in person i couldnt justify spending that money on a car thsat lloks almost exactly like a 335i. So instead I went with my other option which is the New
S5. Sick car tho.

I heard that one (of two) of my local dealers has a coupe and a sedan sitting in the showroom right now. Supposedly all of the allocations were pre-ordered and there was a minimum 18 months wait list (ha!). Apparently many dealers have inventory sitting on the showroom floor. Most are priced at MSRP. however, there are a few in CA that have marked theirs up $30K!!! I feel sorry (not really) for the schmuck that pays $100K for an M3.

I will probably be taking a short trip to the dealer this week to see both in person, but I will not get first model year, at all. Oh, and my dealer is "only" charging a $5K markup.

I got a call from my dealer yesterday telling me he just got in an M3 coupe. I walked on over, and took it for a spin. The car only had 12 miles on it when I got in. The salesman wouldn't let me really "drive" the car since it was so new; RPM's were kept below 4500. It was a very smooth ride, I was thoroughly impressed, interior quality was great too. Just like M32G35, I'll probably be in the market for an '09, so this drive was really just to say I drove the car; as it gets closer to my purchase time, I'll take a more detailed test drive.
FYI, the dealer near me is selling at MSRP.

Selling at MSRP is pretty cool! It's hard to believe that your dealer isn't putting any mark-ups for the new M3...

Are you buying one soon?

For anyone that is interested, the BMW Ultimate Drive will feature the E92 M3 and the Alpina B7.

The catch is you must be over 30 to drive either. Click the link to find a participating dealer near you and register. I can't register until April 15th, but I do believe all test cars are broken in already.

I hear from others that have driven it that 4500 is just the tip of the iceberg. I also heard that it turns absolutely flat, and of course it never really feels like your going fast. Alot of people will likely get in trouble because of this car (triple digits comes on way to quickly and the car is just too planted to really give you any indication that you are going too fast). I can't wait for '09 to get here, or at least May 15th (Ultimate Drive)!

Beautiful from the outside, fugly on the inside. Nice car, but I don't think it warrants a wait of over a year for... Might as well go wait on a Ferrari...

The car didn't really pull that hard, but I have a very strong feeling that after 4500, it would feel like a rocket. The salesman let me get on the highway with the car, and before I knew it, we were a few exits down. It definitely didn't feel like we were going that fast, but we were. Trouble WILL be had!!

The Mrs. does like me talking about getting a new car (i got the G in Nov '06), but I'm still saving up the $$ for the M3 and plan to get a 2009. She'll come around eventually.
