Motor Trend: GTR Acceleration test! 0-60 in 3.2 seconds! (^_^)

Wow....

Godzilla Unleashed! 2009 Nissan GT-R Acceleration Test
0-60 in 3.2 seconds: Nissan's GT-R terrorizes El Toro Marine Air Station

That 3.2-second zero-to-60 mph time ties our best runs in a Porsche 911 Turbo and a 911 GT3-R, and trails only the Ferrari Enzo (3.1 sec) and Bugatti Veyron (2.7 sec) among production test cars.

Very impressive.

There's alot of variables that go into getting those numbers, so I don't really pay I'm much attention to 0-60 figures. I'm more interested in what a car does after 60 and how fast it is in the corners (which, the GT-R is pretty good at)

EDIT: Just read more of the article. This is an interesting graph by motortrend:

The weight of the Nissan GTR really takes a toll on it after ~90 MPH. The Porsche 997 GT2 doesn't look to slow down at all

.

Agreed the weight takes it's toll, but the fact it still beats all these cars 0 to 60 is proof that when it gets lighter, it will be faster.

At 3400lbs, the car may hit 0 to 120 at amazing speed.

The 1/4 trap speed will also be amazing....but just imagine the VSpec base
price at $90,000...?

But did anyone notice the GTR still hit's 0 to 60 in 4 secs, by just hitting the gas....and no launch control.....?

that is indeed utterly amazing.

i've also noticed that with even bad launches, people are still getting 11.8's in the 1/4.

Performance wise... amazing, beautiful, etc.

Why did they make it so ugly? Why couldn't it be like an aggressive looking G or Z?

Truth be known. Most buyers will never take the car to the track. But all buyers will mash the gas from 0-60 at a traffic light. GUARANTEED! So what is a more important statistic for you?? For me its the 0-60. And NOT speeds above 120 mph.

Seriously....

11.6 sec @ 120.0 mph !?

$70k........ Stock..... 4 seater.......

"WTF!?" I can see the auto execs over in Germany, Detroit and Italy throwing the reviews on the table muttering "WTF!?"

I wondering how much boost is needed for the GT-R to beat the Veyron... hmmmmm~
