First time I hear about Nissan R390 GT1

I never knew Nissan had this car.

Not sure how many of them were made but they were made street legal.

Knew about it for a while... sick car. Pretty sure it's street legal. Very few were made... if not just one. I remember watching a documentary of Nissan and the lucky host got to drive it.

FWIW, the R390 competed at a time when FIA GT1 (and later LMGTP and LMP) was actually fun and exciting to watch. In addition to the R390, 1998 saw rivals Toyota competing with its GT-One, BMW with it's V12 LM, MB with it's CLK-LM, Panoz with its Esperante GTR-1 and Porsche (who went on to win) with its 911 GT1.

Now it's just Audi beating the crap out of the privateers. Here's hoping the Pescarolo crew who lost by just 4 laps in '06 and the Peugeot boys who came close in '07 can stick it to those arrogant Germans who had the nerve to sandbag the '03 race so Bentley's EXP Speed 8 could take the checkered flag.
