The new ZR1 produces similar 'ring' times to the GTR

Its funny that the GTR does a lap of 7:38 and the ZR1 will be in the 7:40s, just imagine the v spec 300lbs lighter and about 80 more hp!

Here is the article from edmunds:

Don't get your hopes too high... The ZR1 ran on a damp track and is not production-ready, so expect at least 8 seconds better times on a dry run.

The GTR also ran on a partial wet track, i bet the GTR could shave a few secs on a dry track. I was expecting alot more from the vette with 600+HP and I believe lighter than the current Z06. The V-Spec will make the ZR1 work up a sweat.

The vette wont be even near as fast as the GT-R. Also, the vette has more than 80 more hp

The Z06 does it in 7:43. What makes you think the ZR1 won't be any different with a better suspension, alot more power, and better brakes, than the Z06?

That article is nothing more than speculation.

The lighter weight and increased HP was in reference to the V Spec GT-R, not the ZR1.

The V-Spec has already run a 7:25 on the Nuerburgring

The 7:25 from the V-Spec GTR has not been verified though I firmly believe 7:25-7:28 is probably what the car will really do which is jaw-dropping. As for the ZR1, I don't see how it will shed more than maybe 6 seconds off of what the Z06 is doing which is lower 7:40s. Yes, it has immense power, better brakes, and a slightly retuned suspension, but all that isn't going to add up to the amazing numbers of even the standard GT-R. Mark my word:

V-Spec GTR 7:26
ZR1 7:36

8 Seconds? wtf you talking about... the VSPEC is trying to shave about 40+ seconds compared to the GTR (they are trying to beat - and will beat the times set by all cars for that track - production cars). The radicals do it in about 6:55 and the GTR is shooting lower than that (and nissan thinks it will be cake)... pretty sure a vspec will obliterate any American production POS
