And you thought GTR was marked-up too high...

What's even more insane is that we know people will not only buy the KR, but they will pay tens of thousands of dollars over MSRP just to have one. The only question was how much dealers would try and gouge. That question has been answered. Lone Star Ford in Houston, TX has put up a red GT500KR on eBay Motors with a "Buy It Now" price of...$154,991.00. That's nearly double the MSRP. Who knows if anyone will actually buy it at that price, but going off what happened with the standard GT500, then it's quite possible. While we enjoyed our first drive in the GT500KR (check out Part 1 and Part 2), we can think of quite a few cars we'd rather have for $150,000.
I am speechless.

I personally would not either, but considering that only 571 will be produced for the US market (at least according to the info that I've seen) and considering that in 2005 a very low (double digit) serial number 1965 Shelby GT350 (the GT500kr was built as a birthday celebration of the original GT350) sold for almost $325,000, many believe, as I do, that this car will be a true collector's car. I imagine a few years down the line these will be worth a few bucks.

Jesus...it seems like the car is geared for the true, die hard, Mustang collectors...that car will indeed be worth a pretty penny several years from now.

I couldn't justify spending that much money on a car like that though, especially since Mustang's from Ford aren't known to be the best handling vehicles...Roush and Saleen have made significant improvements to the suspension of their Mustangs though...and they aren't going to cost you $80,000.

That might be the key difference - do you buy it to drive it? Get a Saleen or a Roush. Buy it to collect it? Maybe the KR, but you take your chances on the vagaries of the market.

If you think comments are bad here, you should see some of the BMW forums

There are a more than a few classic Mustang Shelby GT500s that are worth even more than that.

Add a few original 427 Cobras and you have individual cars worth well over a million each.

How many Nissans can claim that? Yeah, about none.
