GT-R sells out in Europe! (^_^)

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=126109

Quote:
LONDON — Nissan says it has taken a year's worth of orders — more than 1,500 — from European customers for the new GT-R, which won't reach dealers until next March.

In the meantime, the initial allocation of 2008 GT-Rs is sold out in the U.S., where the first cars should start arriving in July. Nissan said it has already taken orders for 60 percent of next year's U.S. allocation.

In Europe, much of the demand is coming from the U.K., where Nissan presold 950 GT-Rs in the first month. The order book officially opened on April 2.

Nissan said GT-Rs will be delivered to European customers through 56 Nissan High Performance Centres, which will pamper owners with such perks as free pickup for scheduled service, a vacation planning service and even a "home assistance" program that will provide access to plumbers, locksmiths, electricians and other services.

What this means to you: If you don't hustle in your GT-R order soon, you may wind up waiting until model-year 2010. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Maybe if Nissan didn't throw away money on stupid things like that, they wouldn't have to charge so much for their cars.

I don't think this is stupid. One of the reasons most people said the GTR should be an Infiniti is because Nissan customer service sucks. Nissan is obviously attempting to address this problem in order to make GTR owners feel they are receiving high class service for a high class car.

almost every exotic. try to get a ferrari 599gtb, porsche gt2, new viper, or a gallardo sl... (audi r8 was already mentioned - only 400 produced /yr). i think audi is actually having issues moving this car as well as they'd like. why the extra marketing (superbowl commercial, iron man, etc...)? i think it's funny that nissan can pre-sell a car that isn't even out yet, in a market that it never had before, without $1 spent on marketing.

the lotus elise was only a $45k car, but there was a 2 year per-order period, before the car even came to our shores.

and who said the cars weren't cheap? i can't, for the life of me, figure out how this car is selling for $70k. between the tt's, bridgestones, bilsteins, brembo's, bose, sony display, in-dash hdd, plasma lining, steering wheel controls, dct, awd, 20"rims, underbody diffusers, etc... the sum of the parts seem to exceed the whole.

No advertisiing for the GTR, HAHAHAA.

How else do you explain the +million posts discussing 'ring times?

In terms of historical sell-outs, I remember reading about the Jaguar x220 (late 80's, early 90's). Apparently the original lot of 220 were sold out 3 years prior to the car hitting production (50 grand deposit).
