2008 Corvette

The brother-in-law (well, soon to be brother-in-law) out did me! Son of a b!tch just bought a new 08 vette. We were there for 6 hours negotiating! In the end, he got it for $41K, $6000 under MSRP, he had the master with him.

Gotta admit, this is a bada$$ car. It's not photogenic, kind of like the G35, so I often hear people saying it looks like plastic, or cheap, but up close and personal, in black at least, that thing is drop dead gorgeous. Can't really comment on the performance yet, he's following the break in procedure, so we haven't gone past 3500 RPM. I'll definitely post a comparison though, my G vs. his vette. Gonna be interesting...

IMO, Vettes are gorgeous to look at. I'd drive a new Vette any day of the week. I can't believe he picked up one brand new for $41k......what a bastage. The MSRP for a new one here in Canada is $70k.

Btw, post up some better pics if you have a chance.

Did he get the variable exhaust butterfly valves on his 08? 430+ hp is quite nice.

I still can't comment on the performance of the Corvette. When you floor the throttle your tongue will be in the back of your throat and your jaw in your lap. You can try to scream, but you won't be able to hear youself because your drool will by now have clogged your ears.

I'll try to get some more pics (if I can find the woman's camera). I still can't believe he got it that cheap, it was a calculated effort, but the market played a huge role. That car was sitting on their lot for weeks.

He didn't get the dual mode exhaust, $1200 for 6 hp. It's just a bare bones manual for now, but I'm gonna get him hooked on modding it.

There was a bright yellow Z06 in a parking lot near here - with a big FOR SALE sign in the window. Danger, Will Robinson!! Definitely would rock that car.

You know, my benchmark for performance has always been a vette.

My goal, in terms of power, with any car, has always been 'enough to make the vette owner second guess his purchase'

pretty good benchmark IMO

Pretty much man. He's my new benchmark. If I can beat him (even by a little), I think I'll finally squash the mod bug. Of course if he modifies it I'm screwed.

Maybe I should clarify... I want to be able to take a bolt-on Z06.

most Z06 drivers don't know how to drive their cars, so thats an advantage I have
