z10 - new bmw supercar?

Quote:
BMW’s last supercar was the M1 back in 1979. That car was the first car produced by BMW Motorsports, which makes the M cars like M3 and M5. The BMW M1 had a 3.5 liter inline-6 24 valve engine that made 277hp at 6500rpm and 324Nm of torque at 5000rpm. Tuned versions could make up to 850hp.

Now with it’s involvement with F1, BMW naturally would go what the other car manufacturers in F1 are going to do, make a supercar. Toyota has it’s Lexus LF-A and Honda has it’s new NSX coming down the lane. BMW’s new supercar is going to be called the Z10.

BMW has set development targets for the Z10 to be a rear/mid-engine supercar powered by a V10. The V10 would be likely a tuned up version of the advanced M5 V10 5 liter engine that won the 2005 Engine of the Year award. Targetted performance figures are 550hp and a curb weight of 1200kg which gives the car a power to weight ratio of 458bhp per tonne.
looks good.

i think it's a sexy convertible (minus the 6-series front). i don't know any specs yet.

i think the r8 would make a better convertible, though.

I think it looks way too much like a Lambo, not that Lambos are ugly by any means. They're actually quite beautiful. BMW just needs to come up with their own look. I hope they introduce a mid-engined supercar, but only time will tell.

If the R8 got really drunk at a bar and slept with a Toyota MR-2 Spyder and forgot to wrap it up, thats what the kid would look like. Although thats just an artist rendering obviously.

All in favor of Infiniti entering F1 say I.

there is a 'perfect' design - aerodynamics and balance. many of the car manufacturers are all going to that same shape for a reason... aerodynamics.

i think porsche is ahead of the curve on that department.
