Looking for a good forum...

We are buying a New Civic EX MT sedan and I was wondering; does anyone know a good forum for the Civic that's not full of punks and ricers?

Or is that just too much to ask?

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I just want to get some ideas on where to get some performance stuff and do a few mods, not much, but just make it look nice and run good. You know, lowering springs and a CAI etc.

8th civic is as close as you'll get.

There are a lot of kids there, but there are also a lot of true enthusiasts who can give you GOOD information.

Why, may I ask, are you getting an EX instead of the Si?

Mileage.....

Mama had this matra; "Thirty five miles per gallon". I tried to convince her that the Si would do that, but she wouldn't listen. However, now that the Civic has passed the Ford F-150 as the largest selling vehicle in the US, the only thing you can find is Si's. Maybe I can convince her.

To her, 55 is just a check point on the way to 85....

If i go 55 mph on the freeway in my G in 6th gear with 0 incline, I wont be surprised to average 40 mpg . The question is, it possible for me to do so....

no car will get you that MPG at 85 mph.

its simple physics...

double speed = quadruple drag.

Those EPA ratings dont take the car anywhere NEAR 85.

Well, mama is picking up the new Civic this weekend. We are just sick of dealing with "Stealerships". I can't believe how many "salesmen" know so little about the cars they are trying to sell. Don't call you back, don't "keep you in the loop", it's just a PITA.

Except for ONE DEALERSHIP! Gunn Honda in San Antonio TX. Those guys were great! Called us back as he tracked the car through the system, answered ALL our questions without a "I'll have to check with my manager". So, this weekend she will pick up a brand new Silver Civic Si !!!!!

I talked her into it! Partly because we have been looking for an EX with a manual shift and there are NONE in the state of Texas. So she "settled" for an Si.

Yeah me!

I'll let you know how it drives in a week, I'm leaving for Boy Scout Summer Camp Sunday. This will be my 14th year.

See ya!

Yeah the Gunn group is as good a stealership as you'll find in town.

Also gotta plug Lone Star Mitsubishi on the Northside.

You'll love the Si.....Its performance is great, the V-tech kick at 6k is awesome and it'll actually return some decent mileage #'s not too different than the ordinary Civic. I got mid 40's on our larger gallon tho not at 85

I had a chance to compare the Civic with our Canada only Acura CSX (virtually the same as the Si but with some Acura lux) and was very impressed especially with the CSX's 2 liter 197 hp motor.

Google some Civic sites tho my search for the same decently friendly sites was fruitless.
The ones I visited were fairly informative but rife with kids and attitude...

You'll not be sorry for the purchase and will rejoice in the power and handling of the Si I'm sure.
Nice colour btw.....terrific looking and fairly low maintenance.

Let us know when you get her home.....and have fun wrestling it away for wifey....

Have a good one a the B/S summer camp.

Colin.
