gt-r with bov?

i saw a couple of guys on another forum that had greddy bov's installed on their gt-r's...

i know that these come with wastgates, and i'm familiar with how each works... what i'm asking is how involved is the process to install bov's on this car?

wastegates... do you mean recirc valves?

Every turbocharger has a wastegate which functions differently from a bov or a recirculation valve (CBV).

Uh oh... I think somebody needs a lesson in Turbo 101 class. Without getting too technical a BOV (Blow off valve) is one of the least expensive and easiest mods (you don't even need a lift) for turbocharged cars. You just have to insure the BOV can hold the boost your pushing without prematurely releasing it into the atmosphere. A bad install i.e. boost leak can mess up the efficiency of your turbo, though.

Depends on how the factory valve is attached to the pipe.

Even better, you can probably do the turkey call mod with the stock bov so why bother with a GREEDY valve?

i agree it should be easy (i've done this to my nissan 180 (s13), r32, and r33 gts-t). i was referring to the r35 gt-r specifically... what is different about this model? that's all. i haven't seen one yet (at least close enough to see what is really going on inside, etc...)

this is exactly what i'm asking about... the specifics related to this engine (clearance, existing parts, location, etc...)

i haven't able to find more in depth information about this turbo package (i.e. part numbers, etc...)

actually thinking about upgrading the turbos to maybe vf22's or something larger.

Oh just grab a pair of GT42's and get after it...

Or, tack weld an extra set of blades to the compressor wheel, should be good for 50% more boost juice.

gt42's seem a bit excessive (and i don't think they'd fit) - but i like the enthusiasm.

LMAO, I'm guessing they won't either haha. Seriously, you should get to know the car first before considering upgrades. Factory NIB, it has enough power to wrap itself and you around many lightpoles.

you're probably right... i guess i'm slightly envious of those who have already enjoyed and modded their gt-r (japan, australia, imports, etc...).

i did the same thing for my g back in '03 when i got her. i should wait and see what this car is going to do in stock form before building a list of things to improve it.
