G35/G37 vs ???

So like the title says... who do you think the G35/G37s main competitor is? For example our cars have a lot more technology upgrades vs. STi and Evos but of course we are a little slower.

Competitor:
335i
Rally CARS!

On a side note... It also feels like our cars are never mentioned in any articles and what not.

I would say our main competitor is the 328i

3 series is the ONLY real competitor.

I'd say mostly 3 series.

Depends on whether you're looking at just the coupe, or the G in general. If just the coupe, then 3 series coupes, A5. If in general, add: Lexus IS250/350, C class, A4, Caddy CTS

Our cars are mentioned in plenty of articles...or at least mine is

Check out the post that has a list of ALL the articles about 07+ Gs. Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Road and Track, etc. have done plenty of articles comparing G37 vs 335i Coupe and the G35 Sedans vs 328i, CTS, C300.

So i'm not sure why you think our cars are never mentioned. Unless you're just saying about X models...

3-Series.

Just as the Lexus IS battles it off with the Benz C-Class.

Sorry for not using the search.

Yes, I know our cars have battled the 335i coupe/sedan but I want it to be mentioned more. Like against the GTR or like the new Evolution X or STi. Something more then just lux.

Anyway I think the 335i is a killer car but I still like the G!

Just wished the G37 coupe had all-wheel-drive!

Against the GTR? No comment

As far as the Evo or STi, they are completely different cars. There's really no comparison between them. They are just too different in their own ways.

Cars I see the G get cross shopped with in order of most common to least common:

3 series
Acura TL/TL-S
Lexus ES
C-Class
Camry/Accord/Maxima
Lexus IS
EVO/STI
CTS
S40/60

Well that's just how comparison tests go. They don't test Vettes vs. Civic Si's because they just aren't competitive. It might be interesting, but from their perspective stupid to waste time comparing cars that have no relevance to each other.

One thing that I've seen that is quite interesting however, is when they put aftermarket tuned cars (such as the 335i or GTI) vs. their more expensive factory counterparts (ala M3 or R32) to show how you can nearly equalize the field with a few mods

Two competitors that haven't been mentioned:

Pontiac G8
Subaru Legacy GT

Similar in price, performance, size, features, etc. At least similar enough to be cross shopped.

True that!
I actually considered the G8 (limited availability this spring) and Legacy GT before choosing my G35

G35 - best of the 3 series contender. Sleek styling, roomy interior, potent engine with new improved smoothness. It's not necessarily the best in anything, but it's very good at everything. Combine with Infiniti value, reliability & service, it's definitely the smart choice for the aspiring future millionaires.

3 series - The king of the hill has returned with a vengence. The new TT 3 series are killers in a suit~ excels both in performance value and brand. A true champion as a the medium priced everyday drivers car. Also very popular with girls age 18-30.

CTS - Possibly the best American car on the market in terms of the complete package. Very impressive car from design, performance, execution to the message it sends. Caddilac is back in the game.

C-Class - Very impressive C-Class, now with some balls. Solid chasis, potent engine and comfortable daily driver. Not to mention Mercedes initial quality is WAY up since the new gen came out.

Lexus IS - soft fast stylish cars design for the younger crowd. Nice electronics. Lexus copied the BMW 3 series and got better at it this time. Only problem is they decided to set the MSRP same as the BMW.

Acura TL/TL-S - FWD at the limit, can't take Acura seriously until they go RWD. Possibly the bestest Accord ever made.

EVO/STI - Fugli-rica-mobile with killer performance value. Make sure to keep your helmet on to spare the public embarassment. Will destroy competitions on the track with or without bang-for-the-buck mods.

Lexus ES - Possibly the softest car on the planet in 2008, reserved for people with frail bones and joints.

Camry/Accord/Maxima - Pedestrian people carrier. Buy one if your life is about exciting as 80% of people in the local AARP meeting.

S40/60 - Wait, Volvo is still around? I suppose so long as dads still buy their daughters cars for college......
