You can say people "loved" the old NSX.

I completely disagree though. People may have thought it was neat on paper, but when it came to loving the car with their wallets, it didn't happen.

In its last years, they only sold 200-250 per YEAR. Compared with around say 40,000 corvettes per year.

The old NSX was sweet looking and well built. Plus, it's cool that it was a handbuilt supercar.

But, it was too slow and too expensive. And definitely not a sports car you could drive every day (unlike the vette).

Make the new one fast, and somewhat affordable, call it whatever you want.

In theory, I like the NSX better than the old vette too..... on paper. But, I'd never buy one.

You've obviously never been in a NSX.

The NSX is a daily driver. Its the daily driveable supercar. Sure it lacks in power, but in every other measurement of performance, it is STILL competitive. Give the NSX a simple boost in power to the levels of current ferraris and porsches, and it is plenty competetive. Keep in mind, the NSX came from the factory with SMALLER tires than your G35 did. Slap some wider tires like current cars...

You get the idea.

I originally sold my 05 s2k to buy a NSX. Then the CR came along... and the NSX had to wait.

Oh, and I believe they sold 5 NSXs in 06.

16 years of production is FTW. No other car has gone that long with no major changes.

+1

Some cars you HAVE to drive to understand the passion behind them. I have ALWAYS liked the look, configuration (mid engine) of the CURRENT NSX. I would NEVER consider this new proposed car a replacement for the current car.

05 was the last model year for the car.

Technically you can drive ANYTHING every day. But, with a rough ride, very little room and storage, bad blind spots, hard to get in and out of...... you get the idea.

I should say, it's not as "good" of a daily driver.

It's kinda like comparing Porsche and Ferrari. To quote Top Gear, Porsche is the car you can drive every day, Ferrari is not. But, I'd take a Ferrari any day.

Going 16 years in production without any major changes is NOT something to be proud of. Letting the automotive world change around you while staying the same would probably be why they only sold 5 in 06.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked the NSX. But, I could still sum it up in two words: Overpriced and underpowered.

The NSX is COMFORTABLE.... Yes, comfortable. It is plush, and can be driven for hours and hours without fatigue. It's more comfortable than my G coupe was, and WAY WAY more comfortable than my s2k.

That's what makes it daily driveable. Then there's the honda reliability.... I want one.

I had one for a day, and I want one. It would be my daily.

Golf club sets fit in the NSX btw... since the G coupe does 2...

This looks and sounds very promising.

The '90 NSX was truly groundbreaking. The fact it lasted so long and was still a great car albeit underpowered is a testament to how good it was. Honda builds fabulous cars and is the worlds number one engine builder.

The most interesting thing to me is the statement they want to beat the GTR and LSF. I would not bet against that.

Something that concerns me a bit is the potential price point if the previous NSX is any indication. Hopefully this thing will be priced very competitively with say the GTR.

I will be watching this one closely.

NSX is underpowered.

S2k is underpowered.

Civic is underpowered.

Everything Honda builds is underpowered... but they certainly overperform for being so underpowered...

^yes, I agree with that. If the ratings are true on the upcoming NSX it doesn't sound underpowered though.

I'll speculate and say that the car will also be lightweight.

The cylinder deactivation for economy and the 8 speed AT interest me too, although I haven't had an auto car for a lot of years.

whoa... how'd I miss this thread.

I sure hope they don't call it an NSX!
It looks to be a complete departure design wise.....

Should be a killer machine though & great to have more competition in the segment.
