Which car to trade in?
Currently we have a beater Q45, a 03 G35 Coupe, 05 G35 Sedan and a SL500 in the garage. I've been eyeing the CLS500 for some time and recently found a great deal for both the CLS500 and SL55. (used) Which car should I trade in for the CLS? I suppose I should take the Q45 out of the list since that car won't be worth much trade in value anyhow.
Also. is it worth the extra money to go for the SL55 vs SL500. (I never street race, drag race, have little interest in straight line power and use the fairly G35 Coupe for occasional track days) Or.... keep the SL500 and get the CLS55? |

I would go with the Q to get rid of it before it loses any more value than it already has

I'd say keep the beater Q. The value isn't going to go down anymore than it already has. What. From $5k to $4500 in a year?
I'd say get rid of the G35 sedan and replace it with another 4d; cls. For the cls, I honestly say the cls55 amg is worth it. If you don't care for the power, thats fine, but it looks sooooo much better than the cls500 with the amg body kit and wheels. But having said that, the sl55 also looks better than the sl500, although not as much as going from cls500 to cls55. And I wouldn't trade the sl for the cls. You KNOW the sl will be a classic someday. Plus it's nice to have a convertible in the garage. You have a good problem.

Keep the Q, use it as a beater.
Keep the SL, the AMG won't offer you anything you don't already have that you want. Trade the G. |

why trade in? Private party sell would get you more... if time is an issue then price it competitively

Keep the Q and G sedan as your reliable daily drivers, sell the G coupe and SL500 and get something really nice for yourself.

^but the G Coupe and SL500 are already very nice cars. I thought about the Maserati Gran Turismo but I like the SL better.

Right, I guess I should have used a different word. I am not trading the cars into the dealerships because I will be purchasing vehicles from auctions from now on. So I will need to put one of the cars on sale privately. (You won't believe the price difference between dealership and auction price) |

Sounds like you have a pretty nice garage!
Personally, I'd get rid of both the G coupe and G sedan. With an SL500, why would you ever drive the coupe, and with a CLS500, why would you ever drive the sedan? That just leaves you with a sweet coupe/convertible, a sweet sedan, and a beater.

I drive the G Coupe more than the SL because I prefer the exhaust note, handling and manual transmission. Besides, pulling up to a restaurant in a SL people will mistaken me for a chaufer. The G sedan gets the highest milage in the garage because it has the best combination of practicality, performance, and comfort. It's a shame it's the car I want to get rid of to make room for the CLS. (backseat passengers are going to complain in the CLS vs G sedan though) |

humm, Maybe get rid of the SL since you don't drive it much. Originally i would have said both the G's but u already posted u like the coupe, so yea, get rid of the SL b/c those things depreciate like crazy, then you'll have the G coupe for the sporty car, the sedan for a daily driver/people hauler and then the CLS when you want to go out for a nice dinner and what not.... Get rid of the Q while u're at it...
