E92 M3 ALMS track drive vid

Just like the title says, first track drive on video. It just might run at the Petit LeMans series finale at Road America before some off-season testing. Hoping to see some M3 vs GT-R battles in the GT2 class in '09.

Yes, those are jacks built into the car and someone has done it with a G. The G35GT runs in the GrandAm Rolex Sports Car Series though, and not the ALMS.

Can someone please explain to me why they call it the "M3"? This car was rebuilt from the ground up to be a track car. Everything from the suspension, wheels, engine, transmission, was swapped out. It has almost nothing in common with the street-driven M3, other than the angel eyes lights... am I wrong here?

That is a ridiculous statement...that is what makes racing racing.

Does that mean if someone takes a g35 and takes the 3.5 and bores it to a 4.2 and throws twins on it that it is no longer a g35?

Awesome video BTW. Sounds mean!!!

Sounds almost as good as my cadillac cts-v in the pro scca

Here was a video at the race in st. pete. The third and fourth cars to go by are both CTS-V...you can here the displacement in those bad boys.

Those V's are gnar. I remember the first season they ran those (about 2-3 years ago I guess). Nothing in the field (E46 M3's included) could keep up. Good stuff.

Is the G in the post directly above your's not a G? It has a 4.5L V8 in it, so it must not be a G.

In reality the reason that on the track they are called the same thing on the street is because of homologation standards. It is still likely called the M3 GT or M3 GTR though. Also, the engine is actually quite close to the standard S65, and as such is dubbed the P65.
