2007 Acura TL type S won't start

My co-worker has a 2007 Acura TL Type S. He says that if he doesn't start his car after 4 days, his car battery will die. This has happened to him a few times (the most recent being a few weeks ago). Per the Acura service people that he has talked to, this is a normal occurrence since the car is equipped with many techie gadgets. Is that accurate or are they just lying to him? He says that when he comes back from being out of town for work, he would have to call the Acura service people every time for them to come jump the car. I thought I'd check with you all before giving him my thoughts.

my first thought is "is this guy serious?" my second thought is "is acura serious?" this is hilarious, that he bought into what acura told him

I sure hope he's not serious. Sound ridiculous to me.

that's bull crap... what kinda car dies out after a few days, unless the battery is old, which it being an 07 shouldn't be the problem.... I'd tell acura to find out what's the battery drain, or maybe even install one of those battery cutouts where it monitors your battery voltage, and disconnects when it gets really low, but some how it doesn't mess up your clock or anything

That can't be right... Then again, I've never not used the G for 4 days in a row, except for when I store it for the winter, and the neg terminal is disconnected then.

work a few days on and have a few days off, and recently i had 5 days off, and didn't drive my G for 4 of those days and didn't have a problem... I used to have a TL before i bought my G and though it didn't have problems when the car was new, after a few years it would die after not using it for WEEKS (i had the TL and the G, drove the G more)....

He's not kidding. It's a known ignition problem with those cars. Honda has requested that the TSB not be made public. There is basically a silent recall.

The fact that Acura told him this is completely unacceptable. I've heard their service leaves a lot to be desired anyway.

The surprising part is that your friend left the dealership after them telling him it's, "perfectly normal."

I might lose it if they tried that BS on me.

I had the Acura CSX TypeS (Civic based) and it wouldn't show any sign of failure for not being started for a few days......

Your friend either has a lousy battery or there is a live circuit such as a light staying on after shutdown and draining the battery.
Tell him to go somewhere else.....Those guys are FOS.

C.
