R&T's Ultimate Track Test (GT-R Places 3rd)

Here's an interesting Track Test. R&T took 10 different cars and put them up against each other in 4 different venues (autocross, a short and a long road course, and the oval) The GT-R held it's own.

^ Yeah, I thought it was a very interesting way of comparing them. You get to see the strengths and weaknesses of each car at each of the tracks.

What blows me away is how well the Lancer Evo MR does in this group...

...for only $41,515!

It doesn't do well in this group.

Just look at this chart: http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...lowsprings.pdf

While the big boys hit up to 150mph in the straights..... the MR topped out at 118mph.

That's not a slight difference.... that's a landslide. The EVO does't belong in this test.

AND

At $41k..... it's waaaay overpriced.

The LP560-4 is just an incredible machine. I've never been much into the "entry-level" Lamborghini's. But this new Gallardo is just perfect

I think Steve Millen was right on track when he spoke about the Lotus, GT2, GTR, & Viper ACR

-Lotus Exige: Inspires alot of confidence; superb handling

-Porsche GT2: Great engine...though if it had the handling of the GT3, it would be a complete package

-Nissan GTR: A relatively boring car to drive in comparison to the others. Not fast in the straights compared to the Z06. But has so much grip around the corners that it just slings you around every turn with confidence.

-Viper ACR: ...Beast

This is the video of his opinions which I summarized: http://www.roadandtrack.com/video/in...tid=1681854501

This is exactly what I'd expect for that car.

And yet..... when you compare the side by side videos of the GTR and ZR1 (more powerful than the Z06), the GTR magically seems to hang with the ZR1 in the straights.

^^Physically impossible...

The Z06 itself really has no problems at speeds above 80 MPH. The ZR1 would just be a blur.

I would say the only weakness the GTR has in terms of performance is in acceleration at higher speeds. That's where its weight & lack or sheer power into factor.
