After hearing that engine-note in the vid...

...I've lost at least 20% of my GT-R fanboyism!

Okay the car sounds awesome and appears to perform. If I had the money I would still choose something else, something not made by GM.

I have previously owned a GM car and IMO they couldn't care less about building a good car or supporting their customers. Tranny goes out at 16k and they refuse to replace it but just rebuild it. Tranny goes at 43 or 44k, just a few thousand miles out of warranty and they refuse to do anything. I personally hope that GM goes under, it would make me feel marginally better for the screwing they gave me.

I hear people say that American manufacturers have caught up to the Japanese but I remember hearing that 10 years ago and they were still selling crap. Until they prove themselves like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan have by building many very reliable cars I will stay away, I refuse to be their test subject again and possibly get bent over again, I mean metaphorically bent over of course.

John, i think you had a lemon. We have had 3 GMs previously that i can remember back to (an 00 silverado, 03 Trailblazer and an 08 silverado) and non of them have had any major issues like that.

really think it depends on the vehicle.

I don't know Janik. I think that in general Toyota, Honda, and Nissan just flat out make better cars than GM or Ford. I can promise you that I will stay with one of the three from Japan for at least the next 2 decades.

I think the trucks might be a little different, they at least seem more reliable. Maybe it is because they were so much more profitable. Anyway, cars made by GM = FAIL IMO.

Havnt heard anything wrong with the Vettes though, either. LSX motors are pretty bulletproof

I would love to know what that make, model, & year that car was.

You really can't compare most American cars out there with the C6 Corvettes. It's not your typical unreliable American junk. The Corvette is one of the very few American cars I would ever own.

2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

I have not done much research specific to Corvettes but I would bet that you don't see many high mileage Corvettes running as well as a high mileage Toyota or Honda or Nissan sports car. I would not hesitate to buy a Supra or NSX with 75k on the odometer. Would you hesitate before buying a Corvette with the same mileage?

If you say Corvettes are more reliable and properly engineered I will give that to you as long as you admit that 95+% of the cars rolling off of American car manufacturer's lines are worth about as much as the tires on a Camry.
