Is it possible to assemble cars w/ glue?

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/glue-car-together.htm

Would you drive it? Would you go in one?

With the glues used today it is stonger then a weld. If you glued 2 pieces of metal together you would bend the metal before you broke the bond. Most shops today glue most repairs on.

Just think when you weld...you burn the back and make it unprotected. Unprotected metal will rust. Glue leaves no baremetal.

Gm made Lumina vans which had SMC rear quaters which were glued on...that was in the early to mid 90's

Glue is good stuff.

i believe BMW does a mixture of gluing and Riveting their 5 series to gain stiffness yet stay light.... That's why it costs soo much if you wreck a 5 series, b/c redoing where they glue it is biotch

They're using lots of glue to build this:
Splinter Super Car
I'd drive it.

HHmm, I learn something new everyday. I guess the "gluing" concept just worries me a bit going into one or driving it. But that car you'd linked is nice jimrockford!

IIRC the Aston Martin DB9 has a bonded chasis. (It also had a dual-Ford Modeo V6 engine)
