370z vs s3000?

Do I see a new battle coming?

The 370z specs are rumored to be 330+hp and 3100 lbs...

If the S3000 is even 300hp and 2800 lbs this will be very interesting...

this is going to be madness.

370 is gonna be badass, there's a working prototype and everything in place for its greatness...but the s3000 is nothing but speculation. Until I see something running around a test track ill start talking..

Yeah but.....I'll bet that 370Z @ 3,100 lbs is the coupe, not the drop top version. The roof optional variant will likely add a couple hundred pounds and still be a coupe pushed into convertible duty.

No thanks. If Honda stays true to the S2000 vision and offers a lightweight chassis designed from the outset as a roadster and only a roadster + a high output, high RPM engine, game over.

I've seen many coupevertibles and they all suck! 350Z looks great in a coupe but horrible as a convertible.

Honda will not screw with a legend. An S2000 replacement would be a killer roadster designed to last 10 years in the marketplace.

Now, the VQ37HR in a 2,800 lb Honda roadster well, a lot of people would get killed.

How about the 870Z vs. the S8000.....it's gonna be tight yo.

On a serious note, if the S3k is anywhere near 300hp, it's gonna be a beast.

Call me crazy, but this is getting ridiculously close to 911 territory.

Not to mention the trickle down technology from the GTR.

I've actually looked into doing a VQ swap into a s2k...

The engine will easily fit, but the tranny is the problem. Also, the diff would won't agree with it...

Discussing something we have almost no real details on FTL

PS. A VQ swap on an S2000 would be insane!

Yeah, I'm with you on the speculation comparison.

If Honda's going to do anything along the lines of an S3K, please if you're listening.... put some friggin torque in that thing.

What an embarassment the S2K is from a dig.

Nah, torque not a requirement for me. The S2000 was never intended to be a stoplight hero. It's a track car you can buy in a showroom. The car is all about handling finesse and carrying speed through a corner. If Honda can add torque without adding weight and keep the handling as priority #1, then OK. If not, it won't be a worthy successor to the S2000.

Personally, I think a mild turbo on the existing F20C is the most efficient way to fatten up the torque curve and flatten it out without adding a lot of weight. Go back to a square stroke, reduce displacement slightly, bring redline back up to 9,000 RPM, and stuff the air/fuel mixture in with a small turbine. 300HP and say 250 ft lbs would make a 2,800 lb car scream with 4.10 differential gears. Mild boost would hopefully prevent the on/off phenomenon of turbos and a small wheel spinning would hopefully help minimize lag.
