Race with a C430

tonight there was a girl sportin around her C430. She was lined up next to my G35S 6mt at a stop light. The light turned green and she squeeled her wheels I left the stoplight with a killer launch and jumped a car length ahead. At that point I let off and just accelerated normaly up to 45. She came tearing by me and took off with which I caught up to her at the next light. Again when the light turned green she tore off. i didn't give chase because all I need is another ticket.

What are the performance numbers on this car? I'm sure she thinks its a race car but It didn't appear all that fast.

there is no such beast as a C430. the C320 is the largest engine which is right under the C32 AMG.

Hey Shodog! That's the MErcedes Benz CLK 430. I think it has a V8 with around 270 hp!

so it would have been a good race. I think I could have taken her as most likely she had an automatic tranny. I could get the jump on her and then stay ahead as long as I didn't miss a shift

Well, it just happened that I raced one last night. Had one come up on me with my gf in the car on route 18 and procede to get door to door with me @ 70....the do 80, slow back down for a door to door at 70, sped up to 80, and did this for about a mile. I went up to 5th and just causally walked by him real quick, and he promptly got back on my door. Normally, I wont race unless I'm the only one in the car, but my girlfriend wanted me to embarrass the guy. Well, he took off, while I was sitting in 6th, paying more attention to my gf than the fact that he took off. He got one car length, I 5-4-3'd it as fast as I could and by the top of third was door to door, 4th carried me right by him. They are more for show than go....but I wouldnt even think about tryin that to an AMG. I know my cars limits, and the CLK AMG is well beyond us.

You know you could have just dropped it into 3rd. You dont need to go to 5 then 4 then 3. Granted that it would go in very hard if you just tried to drop it into 3rd but if you press the clutch and rev the engine to where you think 3rd gear RPM's will be then the shifter goes in like a knife through warm butter.

Im pretty quick about it and I feel better knowing Im engaging it from only 1 gear up and not 3. Just personal preference, Im well aware of multiple gear downshifts, I just feel theres no need to risk that extensive of clutch wear going from one side of your tach to the other in one motion. Every once and awhile Ill do things like that, but I prefer using every gear when down and up shifting. I do use 6th to 4th on highways sometimes, but only if I really need the acceleration.

There is a C55 but there is no C430 are are you sure you dont mean E430 or GS430?

Naw, i don't know about the 430's danny. I know the 500's will slowly walk us in high speeds but not sure of the 430's. Most of the E430/CLK430's are driven by people that normally don't want to race so I never got a try but judging by numbers...yeah.

A C430? Man, Mercedes SUCKS!!! Well, this is coming from a former BMW owner. Sorry, I dont have anything constructive to say. Benz' cannot race with many other cars, except for the super high dollar ones. Theyonly have autos whitch bascially holds them back. Therefore, they suck.
