IS430!!

i heard lexus is coming out with a V8 IS430. this thing is gonna be a monster! anybody heard any info on it??

assuming that if lexus releases it, it would be a 2005 car and using the M3 as the baseline since it was released first in 2001.

340hp i think. if they did release it in 2004, the new m3 and m4 would only be a year away wit 400hp v8's.
Audi's S and Mb's AMG would also most likely have something on the way also (especially since AMG changes engines quiet often). Then what would lexus do? replace a car they release a year ago?

I heard about it a while ago from Santa Monica Lexus when my brother bought his IS in 2000. He said it was supposed to come out in 2004. O well.... And yes it is supposed to be a 340hp V8 unless they changed their plans. How much do you think the IS 430 would weigh btw?

I understand the doubt, but why had the IS 300 been so popular with the baggy-pants-with-a-job crowd? Marketing? Most likely. And certain styling cues that lend it's self well to the Fast and Furious corporate newbie. To me, the styling is at best current, and more like outdated and on the verge of frumpy. Except for the "look at me!!" rear lights and sylistic touches.

Bottom line: If they build it, don't discount their ability to tap that market. The IS300 crowd is tired of having their butts handed to them by now, anyway, and would welcome the step up from their friendly neighborhood dealer. Most, I'm sure, don't have fire breathing, twin turbo, four-door MKIV Supra road terrors anyway. Just like most folks don't have twin turbo G35s. Or Headers installed. Or cat-back exhausts. Or flashed ECUs.

I doubt that the IS430 would sell well here especially if its priced the same as an m3 or s4 and has the current body style of the IS300. Why get an IS430 when you can get a m3 or s4...

It may be hard to believe, but not everyone wants a M3 or S4. Lexus is the best selling luxury brand in the US. I don't think they will have any problem selling the IS430. I don't think they'e said that it will keep the current body style (which isn't bad looking, just dated, but so is the M3).

i guess u guys havent seen the episose of Rides on TLC that was all about Millen's design of the is430 and the complete conversion of the prototype. It inspired me as a 3d modeler to make one and

notice the front isnt complete on the black and red paint test.
btw, i am nearly done with my g35 and im going to make a racing scene with it.

About the weight...since the v8 is all aluminium, the total weight gain was a mere 2 pounds when converting to the v8...yes only 2 pounds. It pulled impressive numbers. 0-60 in upper 4's. 2 seconds lower than the stock is300.

I'm running a beast to render even th simplest buildings at school and it takes about an hour to render a room with glass and lights.

I'm working at a larger scale, but what software are you using on what system. 3dmax? FormZ? Maya?

modeled entirely in 3d studio max with the exception of the headlight on the g35. it was done in rhino3d. I rendered with vray and each of those took about 10-20 min on a p4 2.6ghz with 1 gig ram.

i read that they were going to come out with the IS350GT. GT class is similar to the M class for bimmers, AMG for mb.

and the LS500GT is supposedly very quick with a V8. it spits out 400hp plus 200hp from the hybrid portion of the engine. 600hp.

the IS version is supposed to have over 400hp, but a hybrid version skips over the IS.

Because you would have the build quality of Lexus instead of the poor quality of BMW or Audio. Been there, done that - never again. If they build it, I will come - at least to test it out, and will switch from my G53c in a flash if I like it. No Bose!
