Touareg vs FX35 or FX45

Hi guys!!

I'm thinking about trading my wife's 05 passat wagon for a Touareg or FX35 or FX45. I'm personally biased toward the FX, I like the styling better and I believe that the reliability will be superior compared to the Touareg, but my wife likes the Touareg.

But after doing making a couple of stops at some local dealerships we can't make our minds.

So I wanted to hear some opinions from people who actually own or have owned anyone of these cars. Any pros or cons, known issues, how's the performance on the Touareg compared to the FX?

Thanks guys!!

For practicality I would go with the toerag. For attitude I would go with FX45. What about the new FX50?

My post was deleted...

I talked to a VW tech that said the Toureg was a pile that enjoyed going into the shop and was nowhere near VW quality.

I say FX for reliability, practicality and style.

FX45 >> FX35 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Toureg isn't even close.

I'm not saying that because I'm biased, but really, the Toureg does have some reliability issues. Plus, have you ever sat in one? I didn't think it was too comfortable. Nothing on the road looks like the FX, and only the G sounds like one. O ya, I think the Toureg is ugly too....but it's your money.

I would get a touareg. Almost got one when they first came out and they are still one of my favorite SUV's.

Both looking good!

Have you considered the 09 FX or are you looking for a pre-owned?

I have owned both the FX35 and FX45. The 45 is worth the additional money now since the price gap has narrowed on the used market, and city mileage is virtually the same (1 mpg difference, typically). The Espresso interior on the FX45 is simply gorgeous.

That said, I think the FX35 is more fun to drive but I love the 45's torque.
