I just don't get it....maybe its me, but, why would you buy a car and then try to make it look like another type or brand? You can just as easily buy a used G35 coupe or accord and mod it to look nicer......not ricer!

The car, whatever it is, no longer has any identity.....it looks like a mix of who knows what........Don't get me wrong here......its their car, their money.......but not my taste or style at all......

I was born in 1952 and as I grew up, especially in the late 50s/early 60s, the "custom car" craze was at its height. George Barris even became something of a household name for some of his wild creations (he designed and built the original Batmobile for the TV series among others). Most of them were combinations of handmade custom parts (usually fiberglass), cut down ("chopped" and/or "channeled") bodies and...stock parts cribbed from other cars. Metalflake paint was real big back then too.

This Acura is nothing more than an anachronistic reminder of that for me. It brings back fond memories of my preteen years when I spent countless hours and containers of glue and putty and paint redesigning 1/24th scale model car kits in every imaginable (and often ridiculous) way, for my very own custom car collection. I had about 50 at one point. There were even contests at local hobby shops where kids brought in their customized model cars. I won twice.

It's a fad that was way over by the late 60s though. This guy's Acura is (for me anyway) a nostalgic throwback to that time.

Not that this means I like the way it looks or anything... : )
