Thumbs up GTR tranny gives up the ghost

Quote:
In a GT-R versus GT-R race, with launch controlled software at the ready, the Samurai Speed transmission gives up the ghost when the Christmas tree goes green. According to the driver, it sounded like a “bunch of metal dominoes in a line and Tiger Woods came by and hit them with his driver.” Ouch. We're betting those boys voided their warranty a looooooooong time ago.

Love this response to the post:

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He steps on the gas and holds the brake down

Helpless people just stand and look
Scream bug-eyed as his tranny cooks

He hooks up the tires but then he backs down
As he cries through the screeches of the shredding sound

Oh, no, they say he's got to go
Go, go, Godzilla, yeah

I would really like to know what in the trans is getting shredded and why.

Me too....but maybe after they improve the robustness of the GTR transmission.
I would now like to see the long term test on this car as well at the total yearly
cost for maintaining the car.

For sure if all goes well, I will get a GTR.....but for now that 370z looks
real good for the price. A possible v8 370z would make it even more so.

after 4 1/2 months, i'm thinking about getting a oil change...

thats after two track days, 17 1/4 mile runs, and an auto-x.

so far - i've paid $0.

(obviously, because i track the car, i'm looking at changing brake fluid, trans fluid, brake pads (possibly rotors), and tires.)

Poor car...I just saw him on the expressway about 2 weeks ago. Apparently, the owner is a really cool guy. He's opening his own performance shop in Orlando with 1 of 2 AWD dynos in the area. I've driven his Murcielago

he's launched well over 100 times, with over 630whp.

sometimes he would launch once to prep his tires, and then again for his run.

At this point they feel that it was wheel hop that day that contributed to/caused the gear teeth damage. JT had mentioned that there were a lot of street cars mixed in with the serious drag cars and that he felt it led to poor track conditions which helped to induce the wheel hop.
