Thats the reason the Big 3 are wasting money.


The whole saturn brand is Rebaged just like Mercury is to Ford.



There are many duplicates that dont need to be around, its just a waste of money.


And reason im ranting is becuase thats my tax money they just got.

I agree that is the problem with the big 3. They have way too many models.

As to your question silverado/Sierra. One is Chevy the other is GMC both built by GM. Years ago they had different motors and trim. The GMC was the fancier of the two. Now it's just a joke, they are basically the same just slight trim differences with the same engines. It is a waste for sure. Most of the Big 3 could cut their number of models down to a 1/3 of what they presently have.

Yea i have a 1990 silverado and i been looking at both sinice 1999 but man isnt it just a shame that they cant get there act together.

I mean if your gonna have 100 models atleast make sure they are up to par with the Quality of the Imports you know.

It's crazy for sure. I just jotted down a few models of Chevrolets. Here is what I came up with, then there are umteen sub-models of each of these. I might have missed some.
Cars: Corvette, Impala, Malibu, Aveo, Cobalt
SUVs: Tahoe, Suburban, Trailblazer, Equinox, HHR, Traverse
Trucks: Silverado, Colarado, Avalanche
Vans: they still make an express van.

Then you have many models of GMCs, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, Buicks, Saturns, Cadillacs, Hummers, etc, etc, etc.

That is totally nuts for one car manufacturer, and the other two of the Big 3 are just as bad.

I really dont think it costs GM that much more to make rebranded versions of cars. They all come off the same lines... just different parts.

We had a Silverado come through with GMC badges on the tailgate once. I dont think its that costly to rebrand these cars.

Yes, one of my friends has a GM dealership and we have talked about this very subject.

Scion is Toyota and as far as I know Toyota has more than three models.

What they need to do is stop making ugly cars. The hhr and ssr are big fails for gm. However, I believe the new camaro will be a big hit and a step in the right direction.

I agree that a major problem is badge engineering. It has been like this forever, and GM is the KING of badge engineering. Although, they have been better lately, they still have too many duplicates. The reason is they have too many brands.

I think GM could do fine with Chevy, Pontiac, and Cadillac operating only. They could do away with Saturn, Saab, HUMMER, Buick and GMC.
