Nissan GT-R SpecV Revealed (Official Photos.30+)

Quote:
The much anticipated GT-R SpecV model that comes to the market only a year after the standard GT-R's debut, was officially unveiled today by Nissan. While maintaining the user-friendly character of the original model, the sportiest production version of the GT-R up to date promises to offer enthusiasts even higher levels of thrills through a series of body, interior and performance equipment and modifications.

2009 Nissan GT-R SpecV On the outside, the GT-R SpecV's new features include a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a carbon fiber grille, and carbon fiber brake ducts while Nissan has also introduced a new exclusive Ultimate Black Opal (RP) body color. Inside, apart from the removal of the two rear seats, the SpecV gains a set of special Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats, while carbon fiber insets embellish the rear center storage box, instrument panel and other trim areas.

The top-of-the-line GT-R's performance is enhanced with a new high gear boost control device. According to Nissan officials, this devise momentarily increases boost of the 3.8-liter V6's twin turbochargers offering greater torque in the intermediate-to-high speed ranges, while also allowing the engine to operate at a lower speed for improved fuel economy.

2009 Nissan GT-R SpecV Other modifications include a titanium-coated exhaust system, lightweight, racing-style forged aluminum wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes that promise to provide even better stopping performance.

For the time being, the GT-R SpecV will only be available in Japan, but don't be surprised if Nissan offers a few examples in North America and selected European markets in the very near future.

wheels are nasty, brakes are sick, exhaust is cool but doesn't have that hand made titanium look to it.

GTR nuthuggers will go crazy, but seriously its just not worth $171,802. Plus it looks like ars and with that much money you can put together something the likes of the zeal GTR that would prob at least look decent.

Paying double MSRP for some suspension tweaks & some body work... I'd take a base model GT-R & modify it myself. Nissan sure does dream big, though.

$171k can buy you a lightly used F430...

Not diggin' the wheels at all... :-\

Otherwise, it's pretty sick, apart from that ridiculous price tag for a few more mods.
Guess it's just that rarity factor.

it looks nice. but those wheels have definitely got to go.
they could have done something to replace the rear seats they took out too.

yeah, this is a major disappointment. but it falls inline with the vspec models...

this current specv is just a few tweaks on the base model. i can't justify the price, but those brakes and suspension alone are going to jack up the price $25k. those seats add another $4k. and that exhaust is worthless, but their goal was weightloss, not powergain. if they wanted more power, they could've just raised the boost (and not just temporarily). there are guys that run 16psi on these stock motors with no problem, and that is good for about an additional 50-80hp, and an insane torque curve. there is a reason they kept the hp under 500, and i'm guessing it's pressure from the japanese government. this is still quiet, and it is still going to pass ulev emissions. those brake ducts (with the cf opening) are a welcome add-on, and i might be upgrading my front lip.

well, keep in mind that the current gt-r msrp in japan is equivalent to $100k, so lower that to our $80k, and you're looking at closer $135-140k which is still a bit much. but it is not the equivalent of $171k like others are stating.

let's put this in perspective. the audi r8 is still demanding a premium of about $145k. and the gt-r outperforms it. well since nissan is focusing on performance, they've once again set the bar. now that audi is looking to release a more powerful r10 with cc brakes for god knows how much, this specv is still going to be a better value for performance. and the overboost button is pretty much saying you don't really need the extra power in the corners, but you might need it here and there on a long straight, so there you go. i still think this will turn one hell of a lap on any track. with the upgraded suspension, brakes, and new tires, less weight, with the overboost, we are going to see some amazing laptimes.
