Buying JDM cars
I know there are lots of problems with importing a JDM car and driving it on the streets, but what about just importing one for a track car and never driving it on the street?
I was wondering where I might be able to buy an R34 GTR or a Spirit R RX-7. I haven't really started shopping around looking that much yet, and it isn't a pressing issue, I was just hoping people might have some places to look. I could always fly to Japan and buy one and ship it back to myself I suppose.

I found some R33 and R32 with like tons of mods (Fcon, turbo upgrades, volk wheels etc) for like 11k including shipping, I'm totally thinking about this once I get enough space to store one 95% of the time lol

i was thinking about getting an R32 Saloon (sedan) and putting a VQ in it, but you have to think, will insurance cover it and if you get into an accident, you have to think about where to get parts

I am not gonna insure it since it'd only be a track car, and as for parts, there is TONS of aftermarket support for R32, R33, and R34 skylines, so many available parts.

I believe, in California, you can import a car in pieces (not sure what percent disassembled) and call it a kit car. You then can get it licensed for the street. Only problem would be insurance, as stated above.

R32 and soon R33s are availible in Canada R32s are cheap it might be easier for you guys to get one from Canada
. General maintence parts are a bitch to get but there are places in Canada that specialize in getting them this would likely be easier than getting them from Japan. Something to look into if you are serious about getting a JDM car that is 15yrs or older. Be warned I have seen tons of JDM cars about 90% of them are beat hard and ones that are not are usually very expensive.http://www.canadatrader.com/result/r...se&amvoq=false
