Only the greatest car show of all time...and it's a weekly affair. Basically rich dudes gather every Saturday morning in SoCal to bring out their 4 wheeled toys. Awesome, awesome stuff. One of the biggest things I miss about Cali. I started going back when it was held at Crystal Cove Promenade but eventually they got kicked out because residents were complaining about the noise and the traffic. I still have no idea who was complaining though as half the guys who brought their toys out to play WERE the local residents.

IIRC after everyone got the boot form CC Promenade, Ford offered up their PAG and Mazda NA operations campus to be used as the staging ground for the show and the gathering eventually switched names from Crystal Cove/Crystal Cove Car Show etc... to "Cars & Coffee" as folks usually raid the nearest Starbucks before checking out the cars. At least that's what we did at Crystal Cove.

If you're an automotive nut and plan to visit SoCal anytime soon, I'd put it on your list as the #1 thing to do before leaving. You'll always get treated to some nice eye and beautiful ear candy, but every now and again you'll see/hear a truly special treat. The only problem is that there's so much exotica there you get bored with "normal" Ferraris and Lamborghinis. I swear my friends and I went so often in College that 360 Modenas and Murcielagos seemed ho-hum and ordinary after about the third time.

Go often enough though, and you WILL find out where all those special cars you read about online end up. And you will be able to tell others how loud a Kleeman tuned Fisker Tramonto is or what a 1908 Buick looks like and how it spills water all over the place when it's shut off, or how you know what a V16 (not W16) engine sounds like because you actually saw the Cizeta V16T. Yah THAT one. Yes the one in Gran Turismo 4.

Usually when you're having a hard time GIVING away a $90k sports car, it's a sign that it doesn't belong in showrooms anymore. While the NSX was ahead of its time back in 1990, Honda let it sit and rot for over a decade without any significant updates or upgrades. Aside from going from a 3.0L/5MT to a 3.2L/6MT in the mid 90s and a mild exterior refresh in '02, an '04 NSX had quite a bit in common with an original '90 model. The saddest thing is that just like its big brother, the S2000 will see the same fate sometime next year when Honda finally pulls the plug on its 4 wheeled motorcycle.

Once upon a time Honda built great driver's cars. Now nameplates like NSX, Integra, RSX, Prelude and CR-X are nothing more than distant memories. The S2000 is soon to join them and cars like the Legend/RL and even the TL and TSX just aren't what they used to be. Sad.
