Audi S4 vs. M3

Which care would you folks chose if you have the cash to throw away?

2004 M3 or 2004 S4?

They're both excellent cars, but i've probably go with the M3. Don't really like 8 cylinders car: eat too much gas.

ya...m3 is like 5K more expensive than S4...so...i don't think gas is too much of a problem when you subtract it from the 5K...but...performance wise..m3 is spanking the s4...so ya..

Its not spanking the S4. They have similar performance numbers but if i had to choose i would go with M3 any time (not a big fan of quatro)

M3 for sure. but being located in the midwest, that quattro would make me do a double-take on the S4.

how is m3 not spanking the s4? i know the engine number looks similar...but m3 go 0-60 in around 5 sec...and s4 goes in 5.6 ish...thats a half second difference in 0-60...quite a bit....and s4 has AWD which means its gonna "lose torque" at high speed....i dunno man....that thing is heavy

where are you pulling 5.6 seconds from? 0-60 on the new v8 s4's are 5 flat ~ +/-.. old generation s4's were 0-60 5.5 ish. I pick the s4 anyday, my friend just got one and the car is a beast.

Gotta go with the M3. Even though the s4 kills on torque, the m3 is just so much lighter.

yeah the new S4 is like 340 hp V8... i dont think M3 can beat it...

the m3 and s4 are dead even . i believe the quarter mile times on each car are just off m3 winnning by maybe a tenth. Both great cars, but different monsters. s4 is more civilized with its quattro, while m3 is just pure monster.

Well the M3 is goin in for resytling and more POWER, since the S4 V8 just came out this year BMW is responding with the new M3/M4 to come out in 2006 with a 400+HP V8 Engine, Still i'd go for the M3 looks faster in my eyes

Well the M3 is rite now my next car, S4 I like also but im sticking with RWD and didnt want a 4 door car again. The M3 beats the S4 in every category but by 10th's of a sec, from 0-60 m3 has it by 3-5 10th's ive seen. 4.7 for m3 and ive seen an S4 pull the worst a 5.3, who knows. Also they arent coming out with the M4 or 4 series anymore... Just saw it announced on an M3 forum and saw the article. Martin

like i said before. the S4 is just a different beast. I personally love the car, my friend just got one and he drove by my house and i came out to see it, my first reacion was just wow. the car is sleek and sexy, and the engine is phenomenal. But, One look at the m3 and you know its all busines. The car is alot more agreesive looking with its deeper stance. Regardless of performance figures, id pick the s4 anyday.
