BMW 335d

I saw this car for the first time yesterday at the Baltimore Auto Show. I must say looks awesome. Then I was looking over the specs sheet and my jaw dropped. 425 ft-lbs torque. Such a beautiful car.

Anyone else as excited as I am?

Beautiful? The 335D looks very similar to all the other 3-series models, and the current 3-series isn't really much of a looker to me. It's kinda dull, at least in sedan form. The coupe at least shows some character.

Did you check the price sheet? I think that'll be the biggest shocker... $44K base, over $60K fully-loaded!

Even with all that torque I think a 335 will take it stock for stock. Not to mention it looks exactly like every other 3 series we've seen over the last several years.

Nothing new really. Just new to the US market. Europeans have had access to the 3.0L twin turbo diesel for a while. Now buyers in the US get the option of an oil burner in their 3er.

The 335d is not meant to be faster than the 335i.

Well thanks for telling me what I already know buddy. The OP was amazed at its torque output and thought it was a beautiful car. My entire statement was more in line with its been around for years and although on paper the 335d might seem faster than the 335 (which has been around for a while now) that is not the case.

Nobody claimed the 335d was faster than the 335i... "buddy".

There isn't actually that much in it when it comes to performance... There was a HUGE thread about the 2 on another forum I am on.

You sure? Because in your previous post you only speculated that a 335i was quicker than a 335d.

Impressive mpg, but I don't think I would buy one unless I did a TON of driving.
