humm, basically this has been the range i've been looking into for about a year now, and there's ALOT of good cars to consider:

Corvette Z51 (43k for an 09 base model using GM direct buy)
Lexus GS350 runs right under 50k before taxes
BMW 528 (would rather the 535, but that's more than 50k)
Jaguar XF (50K even for the regular model with navigation)
M35 (was like mid 40's for the one i was looking at)
Audi A5 (really beautiful car, just over priced considering the options and specs)
MB SLK (pretty pricey little convertible)
Porsche Boxster and Cayman (the cayman costs roughly 4k more than the boxster)

Those are the cars i was looking at, and have been going to the dealerships to test drive. My impressions are: I'm leaning towards the Vette, b/c for the price, there's nothing in that group that catches your eye more, plus is looks more expensive than it is... The Lexus GS is nice, but ALL lexus interiors look the same. Even still it was a nice car, that drove well, and I'd consider buying it ONLY with the black interior. The BMW 5 series is a car I've been wanting, but it's starting to get dated looking to me (i think it's been out since 04???) and the interior is just plain. I really liked the Jaguar, good looks inside and out, it drove well, had a little more road noise than i expected from a jag, but overall was a sporty sedan with looks. The M35 was a great car, but it's going to change soon, and i didn't want to trade in my 07 G sedan for an 08 M since i felt i was basically getting very similar cars. And the Audi/MB/Porsche were all in the mix b/c my gf wanted a sporty car. I REALLY REALLY like the cayman, but once you add options the price just seems crazy for what you're getting. The MB was surprisingly quick, but also seemed over price at the mid/upper 50k range for a slk350 ... The A5 won out of those 3 just b/c the interior was beautiful (to me at least) and the outside is hot too, but it's just so heavy and under powered compared to it's competition....

So yea, since my insurance is going up like 1k every 6 months to get a vette, i won't be getting that....
