IS350 vs G37

Which do you think is better and WHY?

IS350 is faster and probably the resale value is better? What do you guys think.

I came from an IS300 to an '07 G35S. I considered an IS350 and test drove one. Here were my general thoughts:
1) IS350 with the same configuration as the G35S (tech, nav, premium) was about 7k more (after negotiations).
2) The IS is smaller, a positive for me.
3) The G's steering felt better than early IS350s, don't know if Lexus has resolved that, but the general complaints against the IS350 are almost ALWAYS against the steering.

Otherwise, yeah, the IS350 is faster, has better gas mileage, but resale value, statistically speaking isn't considerably better than the G. Saving $7k was nothing to snort at either.

Personally, I like the IS's look and size better, but the G feels better to drive, and I've gotten used to having more room for people in the back seat.

looks i say IS,

handling i dont know never driven a lexus,

performance wise im not too sure but i lean more to the G for that since its got a couple more horses.

resale value i dont know..

This is a good comparison, you should add a audi (tt/a4) and a bmw (135/335) into the comparison.

My two choices were the IS350 or G37.

The IS:
Looks better
Is smaller
More Expensive
Better Resale Value
Hard to find a used IS with LSD.
Hard to find mods from MY research.
Steering feels horrible (Turn wheel all the way to right or left and drive in circles. The IS sounds and feels like the steering is going to break)

The G37:
Handles better
More room in backseat
Is tried and true to my experiences.
I get VPP pricing
LSD comes with 6mt
Easy to find mods.
Ugly rims
Better bang for buck
I think it is faster than IS350.

I came back to the G.

If the 7 grand more thing is true, then that brings the BMW 335i into the picture.

Common guys, the G is hands down a better looking car!

The IS is a rich daddy's girl car.

Interior on the G is way better.

OH gawd, why are we even having this conversation, this is a G forum!!!!
G37 for the WIN.

OP, are you sure the IS350 is faster than the G37 sedan (especially with the 7AT)???

I also want to add that IS's (both 250 and 350) seem to be everywhere where I live. The G sedan is relatively newer and less common.

I think performance wise, they're very close, it's a driver's race.

I do prefer the looks of the IS and believe its resale value may be better due to people perception. However the G37 has superior steering feel and handling as well as the availability of a manual gearbox and better pricing.

I test drove an IS250 and currently drive a G37 sedan 6MT; the Infiniti is more fun to drive.

I think cost is a huge issue. Loaded you can get the G37 and IS250 for the same price...but the G blows the 250 out of the water. So you have to get the 350, which like Jeff said then all of a sudden the 335 comes into play very quickly.

I drove the 350, and it is a great car. But like others have said, I felt like the G outperformed in handling. Straight line they were very close. They both cruised about the same on the freeway.

I ultimately went with the G because I personally like the looks of it better. I really liked the IS, but there was something about the look that I just thought I would get tired of...and I was right. I'm just tired of seeing the IS all over, yet still love the clean lines of the G.

Just my thoughts...

easy answer,
if you're looking for something baller and VIP, then Lexus IS wins hands down.
Toyota and Lexus nowadays is known for a soft and smooth ride, really comfortable and high quality interiors. No 6MT for the IS350, but who cares about a manual tranny if you're going for the luxury look.

But if you're looking for something sporty that has the soul of a sports car, then the G wins. The 6 speed manual, the LSD, the exhaust note...you can tell right off the bat that it was designed for those who want a sports car but without the boy racer image.
Nissan/Infiniti carries this reputation of sporty over luxury.
Don't get me wrong, the new G's have really nice interiors, but its not something i would call a professional's VIP car. It's more like a Z dressed in a suit.

Am I the only one here who does not see the VIP status of an IS350 nor of a G sedan? These are just cars for the working class.

IS 350 is for if you prefer a more refined finish and do not mind the cosy interior. I dont think you would choose the IS350 because its faster, it boils down to the driver if both cars are pitted together.

Driven the IS250, im only 5'6" and still feel the IS is way too small, not sure how fast the 350 is compared to the G, but overall id stick with the G. Although the ride on Lexus's is fantastic and so is the dealer service (here in the OK) + resale.

Anyone G driver spent serious time in an A4?
